What specifically does the installer say when you try to run it? If it's a 16-bit installer, then you may be able to install on a machine with a 32-bit Windows OS (or in virtual XP mode if you have Win7 Pro or higher) and then copy the installed files (and possibly registry data) over.

Get ultimate if you want access to everything except windows domain support. Get professional if you need it as part of a windows domain or access to windows xp mode* Get enterprise if you want access to everything. You don't want to pay for that. You used to be able to run it at a lower sampling rate to reduce CPU usage. Not sure if that's still the case though. Might also try to minimize the cycle count at which you run DOSBox to keep as much CPU free as possible for MT-32 emulation.

Yeah, if you're wanting to use MT-32 emulation with DOSBox specifically, you can build munt/mt32emu support directly into DOSBox instead of building it as a system-level driver.
