Re: need help! - Dinosaur Adventure 3-D

in Windows
This is a common problem with old games whose programmers never guessed how big hard drives and memory capacities would get. Not sure if/how this can be fixed in a Windows game. You could try running the DOS version in DOSBox, as DOSBox lets you choose how much free space is reported to games.

Re: Xenophage released as freeware!

Think about that. I'd rather not, if you don't mind - it makes me feel old. How many "gamers" today have even heard of Pong, I wonder? How many of those realize its significance? Fortunately, I know that there are still a few of us out there. I'm proud to say that I live only a couple towns …

Re: What the Hell

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; Teach a man to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime. Corollary: Give a man a fire, and hel'l be warm for a night; Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Re: What the Hell

It sounds like you're not very familiar with DOS. I would suggest reading some tutorials on DOSBox or even DOS in general: The Newbie's Pictorial Guide To DOSBox http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=index&FAQ=1

Re: 486 DX2 66 IDE controllers CD ROM problem

Yep, I haven't used floppies for years except for flashing motherboard BIOSes and installing SATA drivers. I tried building my new computer without a floppy drive, but realized that I needed one to install WinXP on a SATA disk. I plan to keep one floppy drive around and move it from computer to …

Re: MT32 hookup and is an SC88 worthwhile?

I've got an MT-32 and an SC-88, and they were both worth it. I would probably be happy with an SC-55MkII instead of the SC-88, but it's nice to have two GS instrument maps (SC-55MkII and SC-88) to choose from since one can sound better than the other in most cases. Can't help with the X-Fi thing, as …

Re: Xenophage released as freeware!

doomer: Actually, I seriously have a large enough backlog of old games I want to play that I could spend the rest of my life on them :) Xian97: I agree with your analysis, but will add that PC games tend to cater to a more hardcore audience and thus don't sell as well. That's why the few PC games …

Re: Now that "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" is out...

In the first two Elder Scrolls games, Arena and Daggerfall, you would hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse to "swing" your sword. Sideways moves were side-slashes, up was thrust, down was chop. I think you could do diagonal slash/chops was well, but I'm not sure. I don't know why they …

Re: Crusader n00b question.

Sorry, but we can't provide help with illegal copies of games on VOGONS, as we want to avoid getting into trouble with software companies that like to shut down sites that they think promote piracy.

I really really enjoy the turn based combat as well, but I have to say that the FPS-style combat is more immersive. Being able to go from throwing spears at rats in a dank cave to shooting lazer guns at mutants in an underground bunker in a 3D first-person environment will be a blast. And just …

Re: I'm looking for CM-32L ROM

The problem with old games and hardware is that the companies are not interested in supporting or marketing old products, but their lawyers advise them to hang onto them in case they want to use ideas from them in future products or whatever. Basically, it's easier for them to sit on old stuff than …

What I heard is that they were developing Fallout 3 (possibly in parallel with Oblivion) using the same engine as Oblivion. I'm hoping it will turn out well, but Bethesda is high on my list of companies that I think could actually do the series justice. Fallout 1 & 2 are some of my very favorite …

Re: GAME SPEED

By coincidence, this was the first (and so far only) game I tried with 0.65. I set core=dynamic and cycles=auto and it is *almost* playable! I realized that I didn't change the output= to something fast like ddraw - I'll try this tonight. I was impressed that it was even able to play the CD audio …

Congratulations on the 0.65 release

I just wanted to say congratulations to Qbix, Harkiet, and the other deleopers and testers in the DOSBox community on the release of 0.65. I was surprised to find out via a notification email from Sourceforge. Sorry I didn't pitch in much on testing the release candidates; I've been pulled away from …
