Re: Using dosbox in black&white

Would it be possible to make a TSR that hooks the interrupt and grayscales the palette whenever it gets changed? I suppose that would slow things down and create lots of artifacts though, plus it'd probably be easier to just modify DOSBox at the source level to output in grayscale.

Re: Gabriel Knight II resource file (re-opened)

Snover has the final say, but I think it's pretty clear that this forum is not for trading in game files which may contain proprietary, copyrighted, non-free code or data, period. This policy is not in place to annoy forumgoers, but rather to keep overzealous lawyers off Snover's back so that this …

Re: Daggerfall CD Issues

Well the current official version is 0.63, but it's an open-source project and the developers are actively working on it and storing their changes on Sourceforge.net. Others in the community build experimental dosbox.exe's from the latest source so that everyone has an opportunity to test the newest …

Re: Daggerfall CD Issues

Unwritable files: It's possible that DOSBox copied them over from the CD with the read-only attribute set. Try pulling up the Windows Explorer properties for one of the files for which it reports error messages. Also, you did you install to a path that has long filenames in it by any chance? Or …

Re: DOSBox GUI

I think a GUI would be immensely useful if it were able to be accessed while a game is running. Being able to load, edit and save config files, change mounts, and open new disk images in the middle of a game would make things a lot more user-friendly. In addition, there wouldn't be as much need for …

Re: DOSBox GUI

Well there are already some frontends like D-Fend that a lot of people unfamiliar with DOS have had a great amount of success with. The only alternative to a frontend that I think would be useful is to have a menu that can be used to change DOSBox settings while it is running. This has also been …

Re: Daggerfall CD Issues

Yeah, everyone has been clamoring for Bethesda to make a TES-style MMORPG. I almost wonder if they're afraid to though, since they haven't made many multiplayer games that I know of. I'm excited to see how they do with Fallout 3, which is coming out sometime after they release TES 4: Oblivion (and …

Re: Daggerfall CD Issues

I spent hours and hours playing Daggerfall and never got very far in the main plot. I got farther in Arena but never beat it either. I've played all of the Elder Scrolls games for PC except for Redguard but haven't finished any of them. I think the problem (if you can call it that) is that Bethesda …

Re: Daggerfall CD Issues

Ctrl+F12 yes. You'll need Ctrl+F11 when you get it too high. You can also set the starting cycles value in your dosbox.conf once you find a good value so that you don't have to manually set it every time. More details in the readme... Windowed vs. full-screen and which output mode to use depend on …

Re: Daggerfall CD Issues

Install from inside DOSBox if you can, so that you don't have to worry about the game getting confused about paths. Also, I think you can have the game to a full install. Be SURE to install the latest patch - the game is VERY buggy! Read the readme that comes with DOSBox for a list of hotkeys. See …
