Re: Dark Sun - Wake of the Ravager

I guess Broderbund has a support page for the jewel case version of this game: http://support.broderbund.com/faq_list.asp?id=437 They nicely provide workarounds for the 2 problems not fixed by the patch: Entering Elevator Results in Crash or Freeze Graphics Disappear During Play Apparently there …

Re: Dark Sun - Wake of the Ravager

It's even on the original version?! That sucks! There is a 1.10 patch you can get on Patches Scrolls that you can try. Didn't do a damn thing for me though in regards to the static sound. http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ I just know if people were suffering this same problem in 1996 playing the game …

Re: Dark Sun - Wake of the Ravager

I have the CD version from the Masterpiece Collection. My issue was that after the intro plays at the starting menu the game plays LOUD static. Just like the static from an untuned radio. This occurs even when mounting using -ioctrl. In fact the game wouldn't load without -ioctrl. Beyond that static …

Re: Sound cards - from best to worst

With some effort you can find some spec sheets on these. Though its getting harder as time passes. Here is some stuff I found on those ESS chips. Perhaps if i'm less lazy, i'll dig up on the other cards. I gotta get some sleep. ESS Technology ES688 AudioDrive Single, mixed signal VLSI chip found in …

Re: The headache of DOS soundcards

Here is a neato comparison of the Ultima 7 intro on a MT-32 versus an Adlib. I believe Ultima 7's music was originally composed on an MT-32 (or was it a Soundcanvas... just going from memory... can't recall)... Interesting stuff. MT-32 sounds like a little wierd on some older games... perhaps its a …

Re: The headache of DOS soundcards

You want my definition of Pissy ? Well here it is. I'm not the one posting shit like "MY sound doesn't work, WHY ?" And thats it. "My video has output error, WHY", and thats it. This program is slow, my Athlon 64 can run shitgameX at stupid res, but not Dosbox, Fucking Please. Do you know what …

Re: The headache of DOS soundcards

Ok so now that we have that out the way...get back to the topic! I think making a database of games and their info etc is a good idea. However its probably best that you maybe make the first step...if it interests you then by all means starts a website and ask for some help and people will answer. …

Re: The headache of DOS soundcards

Does anybody ever stop moaning on this forum ? I'd love a million quid, for world poverty to be abolished, the end to war, and for MAME to emulate all my favorite arcade games 100% perfectly. And why you are there, why not get them to mail you a CD in a hand-sealed jiffy bag, first class, next-day …

Re: The headache of DOS soundcards

Does anybody ever stop moaning on this forum ? How was this a "moan" towards DOSbox? I wasn't criticizing DOSbox, but making a observation and suggestion. I didn't even expect it to be fulfilled, let alone demand it or say it in a offensive manner. This is a discussion forum, so obviously thoughts …

The headache of DOS soundcards

Setting up some of these DOS games is a real pain. Usually I have an enormous list of options like: General Midi Roland SCC-1 Roland LAPC 1 Roland MT-32 Roland MPU 401 Roland SoundCanvas Adlib Adlib Gold Aria type cards Sound Blaster Regular Sound Blaster Pro I Sound Blaster Pro II Sound Blaster Pro …

Darksun II: Wake of the Ravager

This is the CD version from the Masterpiece Collection. I applied a 1.10 patch I found on the Patches Scrolls. Seems to work alright. Mouse movement is really sluggish and delayed. My issue: After the intro plays at the starting menu the game plays LOUD static. Just like the static from an untuned …
