It had to happen...

It was only a matter of time before this hit the news, of course: Windows 3.11 on DOSBox on the Google Nexus One. "The saddest thing we've seen all day"... more like the coolest 😁

Re: Searching for an old DOS game, name lost

in Milliways
The Dr. reminds me of "In Search of Dr. Riptide", but there you play guy in a purple suit in a submarine. The green or purple lump reminds me of "Nebulus". Not slime, though, nor does it have "Dr." in the title. And then there's "Skweek", but that doesn't match the title and you're not example green …

Re: Typin a '\' in dosbox 0.73

I tried the '/' instead of the '\', didn't work. and I can't get the alt-58 method to work. (am I doing it wrong, i,m holding alt down while i press the number 5 and then 8). Be sure to use the 5 and 8 on the numeric keypad. Not the numbers above the letter keys. I'd recommend solution number 4 …

Re: Movie Recording Help

You don't need to route through the mixer by yourself. That is simply what happens when you use a cue/bin combination (that's a disk image format, like ISO). You can use something like isobuster to rip a CD to .BIN (rather than .ISO).

Re: Last Half of Darkness part 3

in Milliways
There are a few (rare) cases where the copyright holders of a game or other software have released it into the public domain or at least as freeware and actually termed it "abandonware". It's a confusing term, not very well defined and not really an official designation of anything, especially …

Re: Windows 7 and DOS

in DOS
32-bit Windows 7 still includes the 16-bit DOS-like subsystem. On 64-bit Windows 7, it is not available. To run 16-bit apps, you can either use software like DOSBox or some other emulation/virtualisation software, including Windows 7's XP mode.

Re: USB Support

No, it isn't. DOSBox is intended to play DOS games. DOS itself had no USB support and any USB devices that are useful now (storage, mouse, keyboard, joystick and sound) are usable through the host operating system anyway. Printers are not used by games anyway, but h-a-l's build makes it possible.
