Re: AWE32 emulation?

Wouldn't the performance of an emulated hardware mixer be better than an emulated CPU doing software mixing and rendering that on a single-stream emulated device? There might be a difference in quality if a programmer has decided to decrease audio quality of the samples (lower sampling rate or bit …

Re: Memory, CPU? leaks & Hercules bug

With adlib, it doesn't matter how man "commands per second" are issued, only the polyphony matters, and that can't vary widely, since there aren't many channels (2? 3?) in FM sound It can vary wildly. A single OPL2 chip has two operating modes. One with 9 channels and one with 11 channels. OPL3 is …

Re: Font, font, font!

It's not a separate TrueType font, but binary data embedded in the DOSBox executable to match the font layout of the VGA BIOS. You'd probably be better of with a real TrueType font, such as DOSLike . BTW, if you actually need the binary font data, check out int10_memory.cpp in the src/ints subfolder …

Re: Crystal Caves....again

I think you're not actually using those CVS versions. I've tried with at least two of the version you claim to have used and confirmed the bug was fixed with both of them. Have you simply replaced the DOSBox executable/libraries with the ones from the CVS builds? That's what you should do...

When a person is "charged with" something, it means criminal charges have been brought against him for breaking the law (i.e. he will be prosecuted in court). To say that somebody is "guilty as charged" means that those charges were correct and that that person was indeed guilty of committing those …

Re: Removing a mount

Although I don't know FEAR, I would assume it doesn't mean your own mounts. Those are "removed" when you exit DOSBox anyway. It might, but it is probably referring to the mount of your CD-ROM drive, if you've not mounted it with the "-ioctl" switch. So, mount your CD-ROM drive using that parameter ( …

Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

By the way, when I switched to fullscreen in DOSBox's composite mode I noticed that there's a certain "fuzziness" to the image, while in MESS the image is more sharp. I'm not talking about color palette differences or the blurriness of the text, just the general appearance of the image. Compare …
