Re: Dosbox Win95 - disk size 2GB limit hack?

The original release of Windows 95 is strictly limited to 2GB FAT16 partitions, regardless of whether or not you are using DOSBox. Windows 95B ("OSR2") and Windows 98 can use FAT32 partitions, but I'm not sure how well that works with DOSBox. As Dominus suggests, it's probably a bad idea anyway.

Re: DOSBox And Physical Floppy Drive Question

If I run EPSDISK.EXE via dosbox-x, do you think the program will find the files I need to write to the diskette from any other drive/directory? If yes, what do I need to do in advance? I am not clear on why you would think otherwise. I could try to guess, but why don't you tell us more about …

Re: CD Audio emulation

in PC Emulation
Well, it only needs the CD emulation driver to forward audio playing commands through some media (network, nullmodem) to another device (PC, raspberry pi) that can receive the commands and play corresponding mp3/ogg files. An interesting idea – but of course you'd need to connect the other device …

Re: CD Audio emulation

in PC Emulation
Very interesting. Maybe i can use IMGMOUNT.COM outside of dosbox? Or perhaps modify it to work in regular MSDOS 6 or 7. I will look into it! Not going to happen. There is in fact a tool for mounting .ISO images in MS-DOS, namely SHSUCDHD, but it does not work with CD audio. Consider that CD audio …

Re: Install Video Device Driver

If I had another option I would use it. As Mr. Keenmaster suggested, there's PCem. Other alternatives include the PC emulator included in MAME, as well as Bochs and virtual machines such as VMware. devicehigh is used to put drivers into high memory. "Devicehigh" is used in config.sys when DOS is …

Re: Install Video Device Driver

I'm trying to run an industrial programming application called "APT" in DosBOX. No one will tell you that running an industrial programming application in DOSBox is aood idea. I followed the instructions to mount the folder to a "D" drive. Which instructions did you follow? You will almost …

It makes me think of some of the texture-drawing problems in Lemmings Revolution. https://jul.rustedlogic.net/thread.php?id=15018 While processing textures with alpha masks, the game will use BitBlt() to copy color data, then call IDirectDrawSurface::Lock() and write only the alpha bytes into video …

Re: Game Patching under DOS box erros

1. yes you do. Although it is just as feasible as running any other DOS program in DOSBox, I can't recall anyone particularly discussing the patching of games under DOSBox. Whatever. Nevermind. I think I may have an earlier version of the game than what the patcher is trying to patch me up to. It …

Re: Game Patching under DOS box erros

As you know many games can be patched under dosbox to the latest version. Actually, no, I have no idea what you are referring to. When I try to patch a game lets just call it game.exe It says inflating then patching then it says patching done then i get an error that states something like error …

Re: PBA Bowling 2 - cannot get this thing to run! Please help

in Windows
"It doesn't run" and "it did not work" is rarely a helpful way to get started. What exactly happens? Do you get a blank screen? An error message? Details are required. If the game actually says on the box that it should run under Windows 2000, then it suggests it ought to be feasible to run it under …
