Re: Any interest to hack and improve Mortal Kombat 2 dos?

in DOS
Haven't tried it and I'm almost positive it doesn't allow custom resolutions, doesn't scale properly (uses interpolation), or even use equal scanlines (scanlines probably look uneven and distorted). Don't know about the framerate but it'd be nice to know. I'm confused. Are these features so …

Re: New Boxed CPUs

Look, they're flying. ? I am referring to the imaginative box art. If you played it, what would be the things that sucked, just to be precise? I can't say that I ever did play it, but it seemed out of place next to the various other much more well-known games. I am probably getting it confused with …

Re: DOS / Win98SE (Sam & Max) trouble

in DOS
I've had some increased frame latency while using it on <500MHz machines with audible stuttered notes... there is definitely some CPU usage put through the OPL emulation TSR. Ah, well, for a machine that slow there's little reason to go with PCI anyway. Now, I have to write an autoexec.bat to tell …

Re: Q&A Database for MS-DOS

in DOS
As per the above, you will need the Megabuild verison of DOSBox (or preferably the latest SVN Daum build) in order to get anywhere. Also, the "parallel1" line should be in the [parallel] section of DOSBox.conf, and not the [autoexec] section.

Re: DOS / Win98SE (Sam & Max) trouble

in DOS
I have no idea where I can find my CD ROM device file (As I said earlier, my machine curiously seems to lack all DOS files, I don't even know why this would be the case). There is no need to find DOS files for your particular CD-ROM drive, and they may not even exist. The overwhelmingly vast …

Re: suggestions for ultima 7 pc

in DOS
Much of this material has already been covered in The ultimate Ultima 7 machine . Exult or U7Run still seem like perfectly reasonable solutions to me.

Re: MS-DOS, audio CD, and some other trouble

Also, just to be sure: if you clear this checkbox in Windows 98, do you still get CD audio? (I should have asked this earlier.) You can get to this box by right-clicking on your CD drive in Device Manager. (Does that make sense?) Filename audiofull.gif File size 8.45 KiB Views 3716 views

Re: MS-DOS, audio CD, and some other trouble

in DOS
This is a wild guess, but try using UniVBE. VESA Fix Utility Listing (for old video cards) You can also try NOLFB. NOLFB - Disables LFB enabling DOS games to fallback to VESA 1.2 modes

Re: MS-DOS, audio CD, and some other trouble

How are you running Lemmings 3, by the way? Are you using L3.BAT, or are you running something else? While playing music, Cd light flashes very few times, so the first time i did not see it. All right, then: we're back to my previous idea. Is there an option in the game for changing the music volume …

Re: MS-DOS, audio CD, and some other trouble

in DOS
Sorry, i got the same message from lemmings 3, on windows, on dos, fullscreen.. every combination showed the same message. But in your first post you said it was sometimes complaining about memory. Another reason could be the HD is FAT32, and lemmings game likes FAT16?. Lemmings 2 famously had a …

Re: MS-DOS, audio CD, and some other trouble

in DOS
Given that mxplay also cannot play CD audio at full speed, it seems feasible that your laptop just isn't fast enough to play digitized CD audio and keep up with the game. And since it apparently can't play analog CD audio, you may be out of luck. Does Rayman run at full speed in Windows if you …
