In theory, you can cram twice as much RAM into a 440BX board than you can in an i815 board – but then, depending on what you're using it for, you might not really need more than 512 MB anyway.

If that's all you need, it seems to me like you shouldn't even need Windows 7. A Raspberry Pi or some teensy Android device might well do the trick.

When you say "It says to put all the files in the same directory", what do you mean by "it" ? If you downloaded SCURK from anywhere other than www.gog.com/gamecard/simcity_2000_special_edition , you might be missing files.

I'm quite happy with FF these days. I used to have problems with jerky frames a long time ago, but that's when I had a lot more tabs open, and nowadays I use the "Don't load tabs until selected" setting, so resource consumption appears to remain reasonable. Are you running the 64-bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7? If so, you will have to use either Virtual PC, or DOSBox+Win 3.1, or XP Mode if you have Windows 7 Ultimate.

Do you mean increasing RAM, or increasing cycles? It is quite possible the game is acting the same way it did on the original hardware.

Then it would seem you also cannot conclude that the hard drive is working correctly. Can you hear or feel the hard drive spinning up? Were you using it in a different machine before you installed it in this one?

I was posting about this a while ago. I never did find a decent, cheap source for foam. Shipping a CPU I have some grey stuff that I scavenged from a computer store and from laser printer cartridge packing, but I doubt it is conductive.
