Re: A couple of questions on ISA sound cards...

in DOS
A Dos 6.22 boot disk won't let you access an fat32 partition though. So not quite sure if that will help him out. Oh, right, I forgot about that. DRFAT32 or something similar would have to be included on the boot disk if the hard drive has no FAT16 partitions. ...This is getting a little convoluted …

Re: Partitioning and formatting - disk issues

4 GB is so tiny that it shouldn't be causing any problems, though. (I understood MS-DOS started running into problems around 8 GB.) Oh, one more thing, Mr. Bestemor: why create a primary partition and an extended partition with two logical partitions, when you can just create three primary …

Just get a floppy disk that boots into DOS 6.22, of course. It is easy to find an appropriate downloadable floppy disk image. Once the driver download has been unpacked, you won't need DOS 6.22 anymore.

Put "DEVICE=C:\windows\setver.exe" in your config.sys, and then type "setver sbbasic.exe 6.22" at the command line. That fools all programs with that name into thinking it's DOS version 6.22. For some reason when I try to run ctcu.exe I always get "ctcu cannot be run under win95 or win3.1 dos box" …

Re: Partitioning and formatting - disk issues

I never partition drives, destined for a DOS machine, outside of that machine. I agree, this seems like a reasonable approach. Alternatively, you might try Norton GDisk, which works in plain DOS. I think it might even be legal to download from somewhere or other. Also, you didn't say that you …

Re: Problem with start of game

That is not my question. If you download the Windows version of DOSBox from http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox/files/dosbox/0.74/DOSBox0.74-win32-installer.exe/download , can you run the game in the Windows version of DOSBox ? This is not the same thing as running the game under Windows or …

Re: List of 3D accelerated games that make direct hardware calls

in DOS
Final Fantasy VII was always a Windows game and there were never any static linked Windows games. There were a demo that was Glide only, but on release it had changed to Direct3D. I thought the Direct3D support was only added by a patch ostensibly for Riva TNT cards. The original release had a very …

Re: Terra Nova... "cannot find movies" error

I've directed Dosbox to the folder What exactly are you typing!? If you have the game's files as they were on the original CD-ROM, then you will have to mount the folder containing said files as if it was a CD-ROM, and mount another empty directory into which the game will be installed – like it …
