It is rather difficult to help you if you can't even say for sure if you have a working CD rip, isn't it? If you are new to DOSBox, you should start with the 60 Seconds guide. 60 seconds guide to getting your game to run in DOSBox

- Is there a special way to archive those DOS floppies ? (I mean, they had all the necessary files, autoexec etc, but no booting for me) But of course – you wouldn't image a CD by copying all the files off of it, and that's not the proper way to backup a floppy either. The critical thing is the …

Re: "Pure" DOS benefits over Windows MS-DOS Mode?

in DOS
Actually if you load DOS drivers (MSCDEX, UDMA drivers, etc) you can force Windows to use DOS drivers for almost everything (including disk access!) If I'm not mistaken, that comes at a considerable speed penalty for normal Windows things. (Also, I vaguely recall that it ignores DOS CD-ROM drivers …

Re: DOSBox-X branch

At the risk of saying something silly and redundant, I thought this bit about how the Linux kernel handles drive identification looked pertinent: http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Large-Disk-HOWTO-10.html

download them on one PC, put them on a USB stick, then go to my win98 PC and copy them to a floppy. There are DOS drivers for USB sticks, though they don't always work for all chipsets. Failing that, a Linux boot CD ought to work; it would have access to both the USB stick and your hard drive – but …

Re: "Gold Rush" (Sierra) not working

However, at least in terms of file names (I've been advised elsewhere to check md5sum, but I don't know what it is) all "Gold Rush" downloads I have seen are the same version. File names don't mean anything. Even if you can't compare md5 sums, you should at least check if the different files have …

Re: Links: the Challenge CD Install

What drive letters have you mounted? You did mount a folder as drive C before running the install, right? You can always try booting from a mounted hard drive image and then running the install, but that might be tricky. (You'd probably have to mount the CD image using SHSUCDX.)
