Re: Networking Help - Windows 7 x64 -> Win98SE

in PC Emulation
What protocol are you using? Standard Windows networking? A quick and easy alternative is the mini SFTP server available at http://www.coreftp.com/server/index.html . Start it up at one end of the connection, and then use FileZilla on the other end to connect. If the speeds are better, then that …

Re: Emergency Room

There was also an old thread that said something about installing the game using virtualpc and copying the installed files over to dosbox. On win7 pro the only function of virtualpc I could find was to launch xp mode. The thread was probably referring to downloading Virtual PC separately from …

Which version of SimCity 2000 are you referring to? I thought there was only the 16-bit Windows 3.1 version and the Network Edition which is completely and utterly broken on 2K/XP/Vista/7.

Re: old dos program

in PC Emulation
I found one dosbox-binary ( http://www.waldbauer.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2219 )that worked, but at one time i got an error Message. You will generally not find support on this forum for running a non-game application in DOSBox, and you certainly won't find support for someone else's custom build. …

Re: Facemaker - Reboot Requested

I had an img of the disk but I never bothered with it as mounting it just shows complete garbage. Some of these booter games did not use a standard MS-DOS filesystem. Even if it looks like garbage, the disk might still be booted if you use the BOOT command. (Note that the BOOT command does not …

Re: Facemaker - Reboot Requested

My question was whether you have this game as a disk image. If you just downloaded a .zip containing the individual files it may not be possible to get this game to run. (This is why there is generally little support on this forum for software that isn't being installed or run from its original …

Re: Facemaker - Reboot Requested

Do you have this game as a disk image? It could be that it is only supposed to run if the disk is booted (i.e. with the DOSBox BOOT command). I also launched the game using the dosbox debugger, however I did not see anything that stood out to me in the remarks. I probably don't know how to read them …

Gee, I guess this means the only thing the 81x chipset has over the 440BX is the support for AGP 4X instead of 2X. Interesting. (Of course, the real advantage would be in maxing out the RAM to 1 GB, and finding four 256 MB SDRAM modules might be a bit tricky.)

Re: Please suggest GPU for Windows 95 PC

in PC Emulation
You are right, its not THAT bad, its THAT horrible . I'd still stick to S3: it will be recognized and directly supported by any older game and the reason I personally love it is the game "balls of steel". That game will usually not work at all with anything newer, but with S3 it works like a charm! …

Yet Another Kickstarter: Jetpack 2

Some of you may recall a little DOS game, initially shareware but later released as freeware, known as Jetpack. The game's author has been toying with a sequel for twenty years now, and it's finally come to this. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adept/jetpack-2-by-the-creator-of-the-original- …

Well, there are always cases of user error in which the wrong thing has been burned, or burned in the wrong way – but really, we're getting off-topic here. There is indeed no way that I know of to play CD-audio from a mixed-mode CD image in DOS, or at least not at the same time as something else; it …
