It has to be asked: are you using a legitimate version, or something that you downloaded from somewhere? If you downloaded it from somewhere it is entirely possible that the files are corrupt.

I don't recall AWEUTIL needing to stay resident after you load a soundfont bank. For every soundfont and even the ROM font there have to be presets loaded in sytem memory in order to use them. That is why you need to load something like synthgm.sbk in order to use the 1MB ROM. Doesn't that utterly …

Rayman has uneven speed issues running on real hardware, too, in my experience. In that respect the emulation is accurate. 😉

I think I finally found that old Mac sound program I was thinking of: SoundApp. (Curse these sensible undistinguished names!) http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/mac/convert.shtml You should be able to convert those SND resources directly using that one, with no need for Resedit.
