Re: Prophecy of the Shadow?

I have no idea how you installed the game or what you are doing, but if you have gotten it to a point where "DOSBox says no sound hardware", then I am going to assume you are doing something right. I have examined a copy of Prophecy of the Shadow. From within DOSBox, try deleting CAT.CFG, and then …

Re: AMIGA games VS IBM PC ... which are better?

in Milliways
I remember being very frustrated that my old 486 didn't have enough power to play MOD music and do anything else at the same time. Some of the Amiga games, like many or the Sierra games, were just very poor ports of PC games. Not at all! See this page for more details: http://sarien.sourceforge.net/ …

Re: Prophecy of the Shadow?

ScummVM is not a DOS emulator! ScummVM is an interpreter for a very narrow and very specific range of games that does not include anything by SSI at this time. VDMSound has not been in development for years now and there is very little reason to use it instead of DOSBox. As for Virtual PC doing …

Re: Prophecy of the Shadow?

King's Quest VGA took months , if not years , for AGD Interactive to create, and I'm pretty sure they started from scratch. They didn't just run a magical "remake-this-in-VGA" program - it is not a trivial task. If you want to remake Prophecy of the Shadow, start learning how to program. Now, if you …

http://www.virtualsoftware.com/ Reseller. Contains many old and simple DOS & Win16 games. Mostly puzzle & logical. Interesting is Flat Rock Software (ex. Softdisk, most of it made by ID Software) and DISCo (ex. Gamos) titles. Wow, really? I thought Gamos and Softdisk were completely and thoroughly …

Well... He could be downloading it from GOG or something, no? In any case, if there's really not enough disk space, then obviously you have to make more disk space by deleting stuff you don't need anymore.

Re: Simcity 2000 Midi Synth

in PC Emulation
I just had a very merry time swearing at Sheepshaver trying to make it go. I don't remember this being so difficult in the past. Anyway, you can make a new file in ResEdit, paste the sound resource into the new file, and save it that way. Exactly what you do with it then, I am not certain - it …

Re: Simcity 2000 Midi Synth

in PC Emulation
I'm glad that worked out. I don't suppose you can just drag and drop a resource from the ResEdit window into the Finder, can you? Or copy from ResEdit, select a Finder window, and then paste? I know there's a lovely 68k/PPC program that's ideal for converting stuff from the Macintosh sound format …

Re: Simcity 2000 Midi Synth

in PC Emulation
I reckon you might get a little farther if you run the SimCity 2000 main executable through ResEdit on a Macintosh, rather than trying to use Audacity. Perhaps it will produce something more easily disassembled. And of course you can always run SC2K 68k on a Mac emulator.
