AFAIK there is no difference. Whatever delay a tiny increase in trace length will add should be well within what bus speed can tolerate. Also, I don't think a 386 can even automatically add wait states to compensate for delays like that.

Unless the FM goes through the effects processor in either the Reveal or the Terratec cards I don't think you'd have to worry about it to get your nostalgia kick.

AFAIK you''ll need four 2MB 30-pin SIMMs to equate to a 8MB 72-pin SIMM

If it works like the DOS emulation of the SBLive!, the IRQ you plan on using for the ISA SB emulation should be free. Just leave the SB128 PCI in whatever IRQ it decides to grab, and install the DOS drivers.

It probably had a discrete OPL chip. I suggest you get a few games you used to play and look for videos on YouTube (or ask for members here to record an audio clip) to see if genuine OPL sounds like what you remember.

Did the Reveal SC500 have genuine OPL or a clone? Subjectively, if it had a clone the genuine OPL3 might not be what you're after. Not necessarily. MUNT needs something like a 800+ Coppermine to run well on x86 from what I've read, and the original RPi is most certainly slower than that. Apparently the compiler did a decent enough job optimizing things itself.

Given how bad the analog out of the RPi is, an USB soundcard is needed anyways. Unfortunately I do not have an Odroid to test it, but it does sound more capable.

I'd change that graphics card for an MX440, since it supports older drivers and, therefore, might give you better performance and better compatibility with older stuff. You could always go Banshee/Voodoo³ as well. Also, no reason to get an USB 1.1 card instead of a 2.0 one.
