Re: Windows 8 beats XP in performance

in Milliways
in Win7 I need one to get an up button in explorer. There is no OS that is perfect without third party software. If you are talking about the up one directory button, why not just use the bread crumbs in the address bar? It displays each of the parent directories and all you have to do is click on …

Re: Windows 8 beats XP in performance

Shouldn't need a third party program to make it usable. You know, I used to hold the same opinion about this. It's like I took personal offense at the fact that I would need to install something to bring back functionality that I previously had. Then I thought about it and said "Wait a minute, this …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Fire Fight works btw, you just need to get rid of the annoying copy protection. Then it's suddenly very friendly with dgVoodoo2. It too displays 640x400 at a proper 4:3 aspect ratio. Really wonder why that works in dgVoodoo2 and not with native DirectX. Don't think anyone cares, but Excessive …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Does dgVoodoo2 do internal scaling for 640x400? Nvidia's drivers shouldn't support that and dgVoodoo2 displays it properly. Could be just be dgVoodoo triggering some internal fallback to 640x480 that Windows native DirectX doesn't do. Edit: thought about internally scaling everything in dgVoodoo2? …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

f you want to look at it I'm sure you'll find more bugs in the game than in dgVoodoo2. It works natively and in DXGL so it's not important, I just thought I would mention it was working now... too bad it stopped :P No, I must check it. :) You'll need a nocd crack to run it and if you want to play …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

WIP5 fixed Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. You get divide by 0 if you go to the video options menu though (you can always just setup resolution via the registry) Is it a dgVoodoo-only issue? It works "correctly" in DXGL and natively but I can't be sure as I can't reproduce: It was apparently a …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Populous The Beginning no longer needs popenhance and Wipeout looks much better now too. Icewind Dale looks pretty nice now too, Icewind Dale II is the only one that has really bad cursor flickering. Icewind Dale II has always been a bit of a technical mess though. WIP5 fixed Jeff Wayne's War of the …

Donnerschlag wrote: I put the latest version in the install folder of Shadow Company but when I run it I get the following: "No usable 3D Devices installed." Am I doing something wrong? It doesn't work until the next release (or WIP release).

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Icewind Dale II looks very close to perfect, but there's some really annoying cursor flickering. Yes, I know. I got strongly flicker-free cursor with unforced vSync though. Unfortunately it's a problem related to direct writing to the primary surface. The emulation cannot be as perfect as the …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

MageSlayer and Take No Prisoners both work now... but they only detect 320x200 software as a supported resolution. The games support resolutions up to 800x600 and d3d acceleration, neither which is available. Planescape Torment works, but not GoG's build. Icewind Dale II looks very close to perfect, …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/D3DWindower#D3DWindower No clue why that ddhack version isn't working for you. I doubt there would be major rendering changes between game versions, I'm going to guess there's something highly specific to your setup interfering. check if you get the same problem with the …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Rally Challenge works fine in D3DWindower if you want to play it before Dege implements 320x200 support. The game does render at that resolution (initially). Edit: fun experiment for you if you want video working would be replacing smackw32.dll with different versions...

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Mageslayer and Take No Prisoners (same engine) don't work. They both just crash at start. There's demos for both of them. Latest fan patched version of Z works. Main menu doesn't appear until you click on it though. Main menu is not handled by dgVoodoo2, so maybe just some focus problem. Layer …
