You can use DxWnd's CD audio emulation without using any of its other features. Just change DirectX Version Hook from Automatic to None. Then DxWnd will let dgVoodoo do its own thing while it handles the CD audio emulation only.

By clearing those 6GB you made your computer slower. Why would Microsoft intentionally make peoples computer slower, by not using RAM?

Anecdotes aside. Windows 10 updates are mostly stable, otherwise you would see more companies switching away from Windows 10.

I have no idea why WineD3D through DxWnd would work, or do anything. I tried it so I know it does, it just doesn't make any sense. dgVoodoo is the better option though (unless you need windowed mode, in which case dgVoodoo is a bit of a pain).

There's been a patch available for this game for at least 10 years now. So I wouldn't credit GOG with making it playable on Windows 10. Making the game itself easily available, sure.

Fullscreen is broken in GOG's build too. It just resizes the window to fullscreen, like any borderless gaming utility would do (except they would do it better, since GOG's build seems to resize Explorer by accident here).
