Re: Unfinished Business problem

Ah great! And so VESASupport was important for you. That's interesting: I haven't had many reports of it being necessary. I put it in originally because of problems that I heard people with GF2MX cards were having.

Re: Bug fixes and speed-up *PICS*

I think I know what is going on. At least on some cards, enabling antialiasing switches to a 16bit depth buffer. It certainly does on my GF3. Also, perhaps worth mentioning, the pricision fix doesn't really work. Well it does help some games, but it can also cause problems. The trouble is that the …

Re: Unfinished Business problem

Yes, TR and UB can do that. What is strange is that you are seeing this with just UB and not with TR aswell. Two questions: 1) Are you using the Glidos "Start game" button to start UB, or have you for some reason had to give up on that and just double-click the Tomb.exe file. 2) If you look at your …

Re: Croc transparencies problem

I think that if you crack this game's black squares problem, then you will fix a lot of games with similar problems. Yeh, I think you are right. Although Blood still has a tansparency problem and I'm pretty sure all the trextures are paletted, so it would have to be one of the Glide combine modes …

Re: Paul, could you look at this log file ?

Snover wrote: Interestingly enough, games such as Omikron, when used with Quincunx FSAA, and when displaying HUD (during hand-to-hand combat), will cause the framerate to drop to <1FPS. Interesting. Probably for the same reason: with antialiasing they have to create a virtual frame buffer like we …

Re: Paul, could you look at this log file ?

I know you'll have fun with those CDs, I did :) Yes, I can hardly wait. I keep thinking I want to mess with them now, but I know that if I do there's a real possibility of getting no more work done this side of Chrismas. I did sneak the S3TC verison of Unreal off them, which was really naughty, but …

Re: Version 0.08 Final Released

Originally posted by Stiletto - Borg won't work at all. It doesn't seem to want to spawn a full-screen Glide window at all. No error message - just says it's loading all the textures then closes. With OpenGlide, it at least tells us "NULL window specified." And with eVoodoo - I actually get an …

Re: TR1 Install prob

If that is the problem, he would be okay if he could just get the thing installed, because he will be using the downloaded voodoo version of Tomb.exe which is known to work on the non copyprotected discs. Here's an idea. Drag all the files off the CD to a folder. Replace the INSTALL.EXE file with …

Croc transparencies problem

I have an idea what might be causing this. At present we support chroma keying only for paletted textures. If a game uses chroma keying with 565 textures then it wont work. It is fairly awkward to do. one way is to convert the 565 texture to a 1555 texture and set the alpha bit to zero just for the …

Re: Paul, could you look at this log file ?

I'm going away for Chrismas, but I've just bought a laptop so I can play with Glidos and OpenGLide while away (and maybe do some work - but I hope not). There are two rather nice CDs here that at last I will be able to play with, and Screamer is head of the list. I'll have a look at the log now. Hmm …

Re: TR1 Install prob

Unfortunately, LaserLok is copy-protection . Notorious for causing trouble when everything isn't "just right". Hang on though: I had to burn myself a new disc the other day with a couple of files altered, and it worked. That would usually make copy protection barf. Admittedly I didn't install from …

Re: TR1 Install prob

Do you have any idea what laserlok is? Is it German for anything? Otherwise it looks like something other than the TR installer is running. I know TR doesn't like empty drives with drive letters below the one the TR CD is in. So an empty ZIP drive can upset it. Generally XP is fine.

Re: DOS Glide Games List

in Deep Thought
Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. If I said it had Direct3D support it was just that, it had Direct3D support, not that it didn't have Glide Support. The Windows/DOS stuff is valid though. Are you sure? The demo I have, is DOS based and hence can't use Direct3D. Did the full version have …

Re: Bug fixes and speed-up *PICS*

Finally here's MDK. This has strange Zbuffer problems, or thats what it looks like. It seems the the buffer isn't being cleared, and the screen fills with multiple images of the same object. Ha, I was just going to say it doesn't sound like a zbuffer problem, but just as I was going to hit the …

Re: Does GLhexen2 work on glidos?

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty certain that there is a port of the source to Windows and OpenGL. It's very unlikely that there would be any advantage to using Glidos over a well done port of the source. You might want to look at GLquake or JDoom; one or other will lead you to Hexen. Hang on, I think …

Re: How good is Glidos?

Oh! I thought the problem was that I create the wrong type of window for fullscreen OpenGL, but if that experiment with the INI setting doesn't work then it looks like OpenGlide doesn't change the window attributes correctly either. Thanks for trying this out, anyway.
