Re: A question about wrappers...

I think there must already be in-house Stiletto APIs, for any game that lets you select between D3D and OpenGL. Looking at the Descent II source, they also have a sort of Stiletto API that is implemented either in Glide or OpenGL. I guess the main problem would be that you could efficiently support …

Re: European Air War (EAW)

Hmmm. Just realised that my VESA stuff- at the moment - tells the prgram that linear frame buffer modes aren't supported, so my stuff will work only in cases where his should. Definitely worth a try.

Re: European Air War (EAW)

*Wonders idly how GliDOS would like working with Ken Silverman's VESA hack* Hey that's clever. I wonder how he got in there to see what the problem was. Whether it works with Glidos? It is really whether the individual games that glidos supports will like it. TR1: I think not. I can get my VESA …

Re: Sourceforge...

I did a first source release, we need to do a new release. But I would like to look at the code and test it before we make a new one if that is ok. Very wise. I know of at least one issue I'm pretty sure will be important. I removed the capability for OpenGLide to create its own window. This was …

Re: Sourceforge...

Note that we still need to add a binary release and update CVS. The type of update we need to do has to be done by the sourceforge admin. It is in hand. Should be a couple of days, saving technical hitches. I don't think we will know how much is left to do and whether we really need a lot of people …

Re: Fog problem

BUT for some reason I don't get any fog around the edge of the terrain - in all the screen shots I've seen, the terrain ends at the visibility limit in fog, but for me, no fog, just hard edged squares (with texture on them) then a row of squares without textures (plain green or brown), then plain …

Re: A question about wrappers...

I have a vision of an arbitrary API framework that could be used to recompile code from -one- API to another. I'm simply trying to determine if it's possible, if it's probable, estimated development man-hours or man-days, etc. Where problems would occur, thoughts about implementation. That's kinda …

Re: TR1 - white screen...

Sorry I didn't mention it before, but one of the first things I tried was selecting no sound and it made no difference. However, your earlier suggestion of deleting the Vesa setting from the glidos.ini did the trick. It works just as well as the earlier version of Glidos now. But also crashes to …

Re: RB3D continued

Paul, if you're interested in that much realism, maybe you should build one of these . :D Haven't the time, although I did build these for a friend. He'd just bought MS flight sim 2000, and I was looking for a way to thank him for 10 hours free tuition in his Schweitzer 300 (spelt wrong I'm sure). …

Re: RB3D continued

The passthrough would have been ont of those 15pin conectors though, wouldn't it. I'm wondering whether USB means that now you can just connect up any number of things. I guess there might be trouble with competing versions of control-mapping software. The CH Products pedals: they say racing or …

Re: TR1 - white screen...

Strange, I'm always hearing bad things about built in sound, but it's always worked better than a sound card for me. I have a CMedia 5.1 chip on my current computer and it never give me any problems.

Re: RB3D continued

Thanks for advice. I'll take a look at CH Products: I think I'd like the option of pedals at least sometimes. So you say twisty grip for rudder works well. Thought it might, although I was suspicious of having 3-axis in one hand. So both the sidewinder and the fox pro have that, yes? The PS-PC …

Re: RB3D continued

Although I've obviously been messing with RB a lot, I haven't really got into it because I don't have a joystick. Think I might get one. Any advice? Aswell as RB, I want to be able to fly helicopter sims, and RC helicopter sims, specifically RC Stunt Copter using ePSXe. Maybe I need something I can …
