Re: TR wild framerate jumps

P3 666MHz might not quite have the grunt. The oldest machine I used to run Glidos on was a 400MHz Duron. That used to drop framerate when looking across a big room, although it wasn't too bad. That was before the days of TRX too, and the more detailed textures can only make it worse.

Re: Everyone but me

Exactly. I certainly cannot find any hardcoding of "Program Files" other than in the installer. I rely on the "current folder", which should be the one from which the exe was loaded. I can't really see how Windows could mess with that.

Re: Everyone but me

Ernie2, that is very clear, which is just what we need, but are you absolutely sure of what you say - have you tried clean installs from scratch to test this? Its just that, from inspection of th4 source code, it does look like I have hardwired "Program Files" as the installation folder, but I …

Re: Distortion on 16:10 widescreen

But many allow you to chose between scaling and using a subarea of the screen, and the latter can look fine. My laptop has a special sequence of keys that toggle between those modes. In any case, I might be able to make Glidos use a subarea so we don't have to rely on the hardware supporting it.

Re: vdos32 question

Sorry, you can't at the moment. What I should have said was that, at the moment, VDos32 only suports a Windowed mode, but that if you play the 3dfx version of TR1 via Glidso then Glidos can go fullscreen for the parts it does (the 3D engine parts). The FMVs are still dealt with directly by VDos32 …

Re: something new

Great stuff. Good to see you back. Hopefully I should have some time tomorrow to take a look at all this nice new stuff. Don't worry, about getting hold of the British version. We have a way to handle multiple versions automatically now.

Re: "Native" GLIDOS

Oh ok. I don't know why that doesn't work. There have been other people tried similar and succeeded. Trying an earlier version of Glidos might help - before I changed over to providing the choice between OpenGlide and psVoodoo.

Re: Everyone but me

Do you mean Glidos will install to PROGRAMME if you edit the string in the dialog box? The thing is, I've taken a look at the source, and I just have code that copies the string "Program Files" into that edit box, so it would be strange if Glidos was using "PROGRAMME" automatically.

Re: Reply

Is it possible to disbale glide-wrapper specific extensions in Glidos? Because Glidos is the only application, which works with DOS Glide games in NT virtual DOS machine... The extensions are used only for the TRX hires packs, so Glidos will stick within the original Glide API provided you don't …

Re: the spinning logo reappear

Its best to leave that setting on normal. If you want mipmapping set it in the Glidos options. But that doesn't quite fix your problem. If the setting is making the logo appear then unlocking went wrong somewhere. Probably best thing to do is play until you get to the later levels, where the logo …

Re: "Native" GLIDOS

That's the right thing to try. What was the error? In any case, you wont get TRX packs working that way: the glide wrappers supplied with Glidos have support for a Glidos-specific Glide extention.
