Re: DosBox-0.74-ES

I would want you to do would be to do a sanity test against the old DosBox official 0.74 release. Done, original 0.74 Dosbox works perfectly fine with openglnb rendering and frameskip=0. Btw, the new Dosbox Communiy Enhanced edition works fine too (surfacenpp rendering). I don't know it this can …

Re: DosBox-0.74-ES

Let me know if that fixes the problem for you! Unfortunately, it didn't. :depressed: There's something strange too: isn't 80000 overkill to emulate a 386? In regular DosBox, I have to set 3000/4000 in order to get AdLib sound in The Secret of Monkey Island or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, …

Re: DosBox-0.74-ES

The Lottes2 shader is *very* demanding -- with branches, etc. It could be that your video card is having difficulty keeping pace. You can test that theory by using a smaller window: if fewer pixels has a dramatic impact on performance, then the video card is likely your culprit. I get the same …

Re: DosBox-0.74-ES

aqualung99, your DosBox is potentially great: I think the Lottes shader is my favorite CRT shader ever. Unfortunately, I noticed the precompiled version is extremely slow and choppy when "frameskip=0" is set. I don't use the "frameskip=1" setting when I play, because some of the smoothest …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Hi, I can't download v.2.54 from the website. Browsers tell me the file is "dangerous" :dead: Seems a false positive to me. Should I deactivate my firewall? BTW, this thing is great, I'm managing to play Donald Duck Goin' Quackers vith v. 2.53 almost without issues (except for fmvs, which don't run …

Re: Experimental VGA patch

This "vgaonly" is great. The water in Sleepwalker (Ocean, 1993) is missing under the official 0.72 binary, but it's back there in the latest Hal's CVS! 😁 I'll try to grab some screenshots tonight.

Re: no sound effects in It Came From The Desert

Set irq=3 for the soundblaster config in the DOSBox conf file, and the digitized sfx can be heard with the SB option in the game. The README mentions the hard-coded IRQ for the SB. Ouch!!!! THAT DID THE TRICK! Thanks, ripsaw (and everyone else, of course :happyhappy: ) This hard-coding thing …

Re: no sound effects in It Came From The Desert

Read what Qbix wrote in brackets. Then please post full system specs including dosbox version, mounting etc. Does Qbix mean that he's hearing the donkey verse? I don't think the problem is related to a specific system, since I get the same issue on my two different systems, but you're right. My …

Re: no sound effects in It Came From The Desert

unzipping the archive and running desert.bat gives me sound (on the answer the door screen) What do you mean by "sound"? If you mean "music" I get that too, no problem. I was talking about sound effects. If you look into the directory of the game, you'll find files such as "thatshim.spl" (one of …

Re: no sound effects in It Came From The Desert

I am using the original freeware version which is available on Cinemaware website (www.cinemaware.com). Every game I tested on my machine & DosBox works perfectly. I can hear the MIDI music, though (both AdLib and Roland MT-32, via my real MT-32), but still no sound effects... and they were there, I …

no sound effects in It Came From The Desert

Hello! Diduz from Italy here. I remember that the PC version of It Came From The Desert had some nice digitized sound effects played through the PC Speaker, but it's impossible to hear them using DosBox. I tried to run the game by DESERT /I in order to configure the sound card, but I still …
