GUS PNP and SB AWE64 in the Same System

Is it possible to get these two cards working in the same computer? Both cards are PnP, but the amount of resources they demand would but a strain on any system. Consider the SB AWE64: Soundblaster Port AWE Port SB IRQ Low DMA High DMA MPU401 Port The GUS PnP is much worse Ultrasound Port Ultrasound …

Re: Where do I find new cases with PC speakers still in them(as well as 300W+ PSUs with -5V power)? Also, Win98SE under

Interesting about the -5V and the SCC-1, I never realized that was something I needed to be concerned about. So what are the symptoms if your power supply doesn't give the needed -5v? I have my SCC-1 in a Soyo P4 ISA system with a pretty new (purchase in the last year) 450W power supply and haven't …

Re: Experimental VGA patch

Just a note. With latest DOSBox 0.72 CVS build from ykhwong and machine set to demovga, Pinball Fantasies show correct colors in table select menus. The demovga option does not seem to want to work in fullscreen with direct3d. It would be perfect if these two options could be made compatible …

Thoughts on Tomb Raider Anniversary [Spoilers]

Having legitimately completed Tomb Raider Anniversary, I would like to offer my thoughts on this remake of a classic. Lara is portrayed to be a lot less inherently violent this time around. The Lara of old was a PETA person's worst nightmare, a person who would kill anything that stood between her …

Re: Voodoo 3/4/5: DVI?

IIRC Voodoo5 DVI-out is not DVI-D. I'm not sure, I still use CRT for my voodoo system. There are three varieties of DVI: DVI-D - Digital Only (comes in single and dual link varieties) DVI-A - Analog Only DVI-I - Analog & Digital (comes in single and dual link varieties) The analog only connector …

Re: Voodoo 3/4/5: DVI?

Davros wrote: yep all lcd's will accept an analog signal Obscenely, many LCDs, lower quality devices especially, will not accept a digital signal, having no DVI-D port. The LCD is about the most digital in function of any known display technology.

Re: Voodoo 3/4/5: DVI?

I think I have confirmed that the Voodoo 3 3500 uses a port that is physically identical to a DVI port, but does NOT carry DVI signals. It carries VGA and video signals. If I want DVI, I will have to pay up for a Voodoo 5 5500 MAC PCI and flash the BIOS.

Re: A Vision of a Perfect PC

My vision has really changed this year, since I have discovered that fantastic machine known as the Tandy 1000 SX. It is my 4.77MHz machine of choice for the following reasons: 1. Five 8-bit ISA expansion slots 2. Comes with a printer port and two joystick ports 3. Can be upgraded to 640KB of RAM …

Voodoo 3/4/5: DVI?

From the photographs I have seen, the Voodoo 3 3500 has what seems to be a DVI port on it. I dislike the loss in quality you get when you use a VGA connector to a LCD. But is the port a true digital DVI and does it work with usual LCD monitors of today? Also, some Voodoo 5s 5500 PCI has a DVI port, …
