In my experience, the USB active repeater is more reliable/compatible - not on the basis of using it personally, but on the basis of sales vs. returns. Saw less sales and more returns on USB to CAT5 adapters.

Well I can tell you that the No-CD string referred to in a post on page 1 exists. 😉 [EDIT] Thought it was at different offset but actually my hexeditor has offsets in hex whereas the patch was using a decimal offset.😀 Otherwise I don't own a Vortex 2 right now, so cannot try... 🙁
