Seen on OSNews.com: Microsoft To Cut Off Dual-Boot Windows Option - PC Vendors that ship Windows-ready machine can currently offer two Windows flavors preloaded onto a hard-drive. New users can simply select the version they want, and then boot directly into that OS. But Microsoft is about to pull …

Re: X-men: Children of Atom

Yeah, I know. To misquote a friend: "This may sound naive but I like to entertain the idea that maybe some of these people can be liberated. Maybe some might stop and smell their surroundings occasionally. You might argue that a good deltree is liberating for them but I carry a romantic notion that …

Re: Further to 'CPU usage' thread...

Well in a way you could build a seperate kind of moslo for it, instead of wasting cycles now and then give cycles back to the OS now and then. Well, I [/u] couldn't. ;) Here's an interesting point: http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/feedback/message.asp?msg=1286.1001M.TXT If you see your CPU usage high, it …

Re: beneath a steel sky and touche

Hey... we should lobby the guys that made BASS and see if we can fenagle a 256-colour CD32 version from them. I wonder if they even have copies anymore...hmm... Revolution Software and Virgin Interactive Entertainment? Yeah right. I'm having a hard time as it is trying to find INFORMATION on a 256- …

Re: Further to 'CPU usage' thread...

Thanks DosFreak - but, as Harekiet mentioned in the thread I was referring to, the CPU won't idle if it is running a dedicated DOS thread which doesn't use release functions. DOSidle does the same as CPUIdle or other CPU idling software, but through DOS instead of Windows - so it won't idle if the …

Re: TPPATCH or another patch?

in DOS
Wow, it worked for you too huh? I'll have to take 'my' advice (someone else told me to do this). Cause for me patching jazz.exe is just not working. What settings did you use in VDMsound to get sound to work nicely? Does the option 'highest quality' work? Maybe I should just shut up and try it. :D …

Re: Does GLhexen2 work on glidos?

BUT - you could take a game, set it to look for the 3dfx minigl.dll, and then put OpenGlide in the same directory to wrap the Glide calls to OpenGL. eVoodoo has already proved they can do this with certain minigl.dll's and the latest, private version of eVoodoo (check their forums). Not sure why …

Re: Police Quest 3

Unfortunately, FreeSCI seems only able to handle PQ1 and PQ2. http://freesci.linuxgames.com/index.shtml For now. You might try this with DosBox. http://dosbox.zophar.net/ And it should work. To quote DosFreak's compatibility list for v0.56.4 (not sure if you'd get the same results with regular 0.56 …

When i running xmen it telling me that " No support video card" and quit, then i lunch it with -u command so now it give me that: X-Men cannot initialise a 640x480 32,000 colour graphics mode. Run the UVCONFIG program. I try to start xman with VDMsound but it gave me an error, when i make vesa …

Re: Syndicate OK, but freezes at SFX

Big-O has been having problems lately. I thought they had sorted them out; apparently not. :P Perhaps someone has the installer that they can upload? Okay, seems to be down. I'll check my HD to see if I still have the installer. In the meantime, Elwood could use WinZIP to zip his whole Syndicate …
