Well, "Tandy 1000TL" might be a bit misleading, since the TL's 640x200 16-color mode isn't supported. I'm surprised that loadfix doesn't work - how much free conventional memory? if DOS, device drivers etc. are loaded high, try disabling that - the idea is to have something occupying the lowest 64KB of conventional memory so the game will load elsewhere.

IIRC DOSBox is reading/executing any x86 instruction in 1 cycle. Vanilla hardware use 1-4 cycles per instruction... Could be much more actually, depending on the processor (DIV can be 150+ cycles on 808x)... but yeah, not very comparable. Plus a system's overall speed depends on much more than the …

VBA will probably do the trick. I've used it to generate PDFs (through Word) from Excel sheet data + external image sources so you can probably do the same with PowerPoint. (those third-party toolkits must be using VBA 'under the hood', anyway)
