Don't force on vertical sync in your display drivers as it may slow down your opengl/openglnb outputs in some resolutions that use higher refresh rates than your monitor. Great Hierophant you can try adding D=40 after emm386.exe in config.sys for that stuttering of digitized sound in sherlock holmes (at least game's manual says about it for sound blaster) Although I cannot force holmes to run with TL dac sound. The game just freezes for a while like it was in dosbox …

moby says it is Gauntlet II if you view the .exe file you will see: Usage: GAUNTLET d d = display device: C for CGA, E for EGA, V for MCGA or VGA, T for Tandy 1000 Insert enhanced sound disk, if desired and i think a version with this file: gtadss.snd may be needed.

Rise of the Dragon doesn't have that helicopter sound at the beginning with tandy? I noticed that helicopter sound is done by opl, not dac. Am i right?

with sbtype=anysb its just a short sound like setting bucket on the floor with sbtype=none its a great long sound check it yourself

Touchdown Football works with machine=pcjr well.. retrograde.trustno1.org says "(PCjr only)" so not really a discovery.

Sure. Why wouldn't they? Core type and machine type are separate settings. The only restrictions are on cputype which need core=normal for anything other than auto. I thought only cputype=386_prefetch needs core=normal What's so special with for example cputype=386 that it would be better to use it …

I think you should try to run a more demanding game to eliminate the possible idle state Qbix mentioned. On my windows (phenom4core) whatever game i run with 3000 cycles CPU usage is 0%.
