Too little programs require VESA 3 (in fact, I have never seen one). Most videocard bioses are happy enough with their VESA 2.0 implementations.

You are wrong. You can't compare two different games regardless of same engine. I think this has nothing to do with protected mode unless *again* you are comparing different extenders (dos4gw and phar-lap) for instance.

Specify a valid fullresolution=WxH value for your monitor, where W=Width and H=Height. E.G. fullresolution=800x600 If you are using a TFT it could be a good idea to use its native resolution. If you are unsure, use windows desktop resolution. To do this, edit dosbox.conf inside your DOSBox folder.
