I have just changed the default Windows dynamic swapfile for a 3GB static one and I have noticed some improvement. Yet, HL2 engine sucks in my humble opinion. It's very eye-candy but not a good performer.

While Half-Life 2 (mostly Counter-Strike Source) runs like crap on my setup, it doesn't hang at all. I can keep playing for hours. I have an AMD Sempron 3000+ on an nForce2 board (Abit NF7) with an ATi Radeon 9600

What Operating System and filesystem are you using? If WinXP + NTFS combo try doing a chkdsk /f I don't really see what does DOSBox have to do with a folder attributes.

I was playing CS:Source and when I maxed out screen resolution / filtering, I noticed this sticker on one of the metal crates (cs_office). Isn't he George W. Bush?. 😵 😀 😁 🤣

CD command = Change Directory. E.g. mount c c:\ c:\>cd xcoma c:\xcoma\> You type in more commands here (Remember MS-DOS commands?)

Did you apply latest patches? Also, try changing some advanced options under configuration. Start by disabling 3D sound (use Miles 2D driver). I was getting a lot of hangups myself and it turned to be some apparent "inocuos" option I had enabled. Unfortunately I don't remember which one was it.

They don't seem to be JPEG artifacts. It's the fullscreen background that seems to be quite broken. He is running DOSBox at 1280x1024 (same native resolution as my LG TFT) but, for some reason, the video mode isn't displaying properly.

BetanoL: You should check this thread... If you've had to use WINDIB with DosBox. POST HERE Also, try setting scaler=normal2x inside dosbox.conf PS - Psst. Avoid using JPEG format for non-photographic images. Your captured screen should be about 15-20KB using a paletted PNG image format.

Here are two screens more for Pitstop II. The first one is CGA and the second is Composite mode (DOSBox 0.63) - I think the other composite mode samples posted here looked worse.
