Do you mean Shadows over Riva right? If so, I recall the music tracks are redbook audio. And very nice and atmospheric soundtrack by the way.

Hello. Is everything SATA?. I would dump XP for Win7 x64 for a PC with those specs. Anyway. Go to Driver Manager and check the IDE/SATA channels to see if they have reverted to PIO mode. Delete all channels and reboot.

Let's see what happens. Intel may have the performance crown now but it's also quite pricey. I have both systems: several AMD Phenom/Phenom II and one i7 2700k on a Z68 chipset. The i7 performs quite well but so does the Phenom II, even given its age.
