Re: D (Acclaim Game)

in DOS
Checking http://www.mobygames.com It seems there are both DOS & windows versions for this game. I presume you are trying to run the DOS version, aren't you?

Re: D (Acclaim Game)

in DOS
I remember those 'granular errors' were caused by your microprocessor (or video card or computer) being too fast. Try reducing speed in real DOS somehow. Enter bios setup and disable the internal (microprocessor) and external (mainboard) caches if you're allowed. It's annoying but it could be the …

Re: help with keys to marmon

in DOS
Press CTRL and without releasing it, press F11. You may need to press it several times. Best thing is to run in a window to see the outcome.

Re: Carmen San Diego 1.0

Remember: you can 'feed' more/less cycles to DosBox emulation by using the CTRL-F11 and CTRL-F12 keys while running something. For instance, for my Athlon XP 1800+ 10500 cycles is about the speed of a 386 33Mhz. The default value is 1800 so go figures. For some games, you may need to increase the …

Re: help with sound

You don't offer many details here and this may sound like an stupid question but, have you tried running it with VDMSound yet? I guess you have. Have you configured sound properly. Most DOS applications/games had a separate executable file for configuring sound and/or options. Check for a SETUP.EXE, …

Re: Mouse in top half of screen only in game

GF4 cards aren't better either. There seems to be a bios bug that prevents accessing modes beyond 640x480 under WinXP. That's nasty. P.S. I just miss old PCI cards like Cirrus Logic or even Trident. They ran without so many problems. I think AGP is just a joke. I hope PCI Express will be better. …

Re: Installation woes!

It seems you're having problems installing VDMSound. Sometimes, installation can be a bit tricky. I think, this is the correct procedure... + Double click on VDMSOUND-2.0.4-WINNT-I386.MSI to run the installation. + Reboot (just to be on the safe side) + Unpack VDMSOUND.2.0.4.UPDATE2.ZIP (the 2nd …

Re: death gate...

What Operating System are you using? For me, it works quite well under WinXP Prof. I'm using MIDI for music, which is great and SB for the sound samples. Here is a word of advice. For some weird reason, the game won't run at all for me if I choose anything different from a plain vanilla SB. So, …

Re: Rayman 1

in DOS
If you're using VDMSound you don't need to run nothing related to your soundcard.

Re: Rayman 1

in DOS
Twinsen, Using DosBox won't serve any real purpose here because DosBox is unable to run protected mode games right now (DOS4GW and the lot). An easy way to do it it's to just boot from a ms-dos floppy or booteable CD. Biggest problem in doing this is that you haven't VDMSound under DOS and if you …

Re: Rayman 1

in DOS
I don't remember if Rayman 1 was already a protected-mode game but you should try running it under DosBox first. In a nutshell: VDMSound ROCKS but NTVDM native support is somewhat lacking. Why just a 16MB limit for dpmi memory? I remember OS/2 VDM was way better.
