Confilct between ISA and PCI sound cards can be a driver problem I have instaled AWE32 and Live! in the same pc. When I used Live! with kX project's drivers, I got bsod when I tried to used huge soundfont in Live! with awe32 installed, I replaced kX project with CT AudioHQ, no more problem.

You should try with a small sceen (15 in) Lots of old games use 320x200 since it is the only 256 colors mode which can be set in the same way for all graphic cards before vesa.

ISA bandwith is too low for graphing and you can't have linear frame buffer acces, you should stay with PCI I keep a S3 ViRGE/DX PCI 4MO for games that don't work with Voodoo4
