Skip to 1:55:x~ for an interview of Aaron Giles who ported games to the mac, an upscaler + smoothing algorithms was used for much of the mac games, like all the current emulation scalers/smoothers, rather than native: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhbZCqhnfa4

It is a very interesting interview. I've seen it recently. Regarding the graphic smoothing on Lucasarts adventure games, there are a lot of people who don't like it. They prefer the original VGA graphics. Personally, I like more the Mac graphics with the filter turned on. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Full Throttle, and The Dig, have very clean and sharp picture. Most of the time, I like technically the sound/music more than the graphics. For instance, I prefer the dos cd version with Roland of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. But I prefer Mac versions of Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Full Throttle and, The Dig.

Dark Forces for mac also has a hi-res HUD. Lucius said he will add support for loading Mac data files in the future on The Force Engine.

Terminal Velocity has always crashed on me if I can it on anything higher than MacOS 7, 8.0-9.2 has always lead to a system crash.

Something I've noticed recently is how much faster a PPC chip needs to be in order to run a game that PCs also have available. The notable ones are Descent 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Shattered Steel, Mechwarrior 2, MDK and a few others. The MAc port of Doom is a mess, but it has the ability to look REALLY good. A Pentium 166MMX was running as well as a 225Mhz 603ev. Not exactly related, but related.

Hardware aside, I do like the way Shattered Steel plays on a Mac, the mouse controls feel more responsive. Wolfenstein 3D is good on Mac for obvious reasons.

There are a ton of dos games that have fancy guis on black and white macs, the gold box series for example. I’ve been meaning to sit down and play through a bunch of old dos games that have fancy ports on black and white mac.

Recently, I went to a Greek Museum regarding old computers, consoles, mobiles, etc. I saw there a Macintosh Classic with a game running. I can say that I loved the quality of the black-and-white picture.

I also asked them to turn on the Atari 1040 STF because I wanted to see the quality of the Atari SM124 monitor. Also, very nice.

Sonic Superstars Tennis is better on a Mac, as it was never ported to the PC (but was on the Mac!)... yes I'm still annoyed at missing that slice of Sumo Digital goodness (played it on Wii)!

My PC spec: Win10 64bit, i7-4970K (not overclocked), KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, Creative Soundblaster ZXr, 16GB RAM, Asus Z97-A motherboard, NZXT 410 case, ROG Swift GSYNC monitor
