I've just uploaded v0.06b10. Chat works consistently now
and the map isn't dark any more.

Progress has slowed a bit because my real work is keeping me very busy.

I see there are still places that sell RB. What do I need to get hold of to see what you RBers are seeing (high definition texture files and the like)?

The latest incarnation is looking good! The in-flight map looks just like it does on my dedicated RB3D computer with a VooDoo 5500! It also seems that the frame rate drop I've been getting from the 'Sun Glare' seems to have diminished a bit. I still drop frame rates when the glare 'flares' on my screen, but it is not quite as bad as it was... certainly an improvement.

Ok, i'm not sure if the loose files work too well in the demo(had some trouble trying that before), but the new compressed vol files seem to work wonderfully.

I'd get http://www.xs4all.nl/~rensg/downloads/new3dvols.exe 13.7MB(sorry) and rename the install path from SIERRA/RedBaron3D to SIERRA/RB3DDemo and the terrain vols should install into the SIERRA/RB3DDemo/Data/3DPatch folder. That will give you new terrain bmps.

I'd then get http://flightsimmers.net/airbase/redbaron3d/d … ps-standard.exe 9MB(sorry) and change the path from SIERRA/RedBaron3D to SIERRA/RB3DDemo on that as well. The file lowres.vol should end up in the SIERRA/RB3DDemo/Data folder. That will give you new aircraft shapes, but you'll need a baronmmp.exe from the full game in order to select more than the Nieuport 17 or Pfalz DIII in the demo. I'll send you mine if you want, cgrfl@prodigy.net (thats "L" after cgrf) Its like 1MB.

Bleh. Has all this info been consolidated yet? Like a main RB website that mentions all the hacks/tricks/patches/mods? Instead of searching through 4 different forums and dozens of files....

Very Nice Work.. i play that game now 5 Years. but never seen in Such nice Grafix. 😎

Chat is working too now ( visiable ) Great!
..only error left is that un-Transparence for Gunsight in Padlock mode ( F2 )
Still not working 🙁 ( amazing point, only occurs with 60% of Planes.. Albatros DII for example works,, but Fokker DR1 not.. hmmm .. but Thanks a lot till yet. 😀

Setting "EnableMipMaps=0" solves all problems like a gry box around the machine-guns in F2 mode.

i tested every MB from 1 till 64 😉

But didnt work.. 🙁

and i tried all the Entries in the .ini for Sure.😎

the Amizing thing iss that the "greyed" gunsight in F2 . only happens to halfnumber of all Planes.😕
think it didnt depend on the Wrapper.. mayby must be something in the Palette.. or so.

Had the same question too. I have tried variations of the file but seems the current one just fine. But still get some frame rate reductions when more than 4+ planes encountered on any side. And so far some aircraft tile/textures will have a black trim but this intermittent and specifically using WFP current patch and on the E3's tail appears as a block/square and wingtips with black trim. BE2's consistently have a square tail. Aviatak's lower wings most often in black trim.

Are these palmap / pallete correctable?

Oh so many variations out there. One of mine is the WFP patch (Western Front Patch). Unfortunately the http://www.swwisa.com link I have is getting tapped by some addy called bootstrap 😠 otherwise I would pasted a direct link here for you sir.

This WFP from the sswisa site is the patch I referenced about the palmap application. Not the technical pro like these guys but I know the palmap I have from the game is about three years old so maybe, just maybe, its a pal issue not sure really.

I can try tonight to run the newest OpenGL tonight after work on a basic/unpatched version.

suggest you start with SP first going into the MMP ocean filled with sharks at times:eek:

Just tested the combo consisting of basic RB plus the two files you have got. I think it's ideal to get started. The files are self-installung and you do not have to dive into the relatively complex "science" of advanced RB-patching, before you can test/play.

The combination of files is more or less representative, as they contain advanced aircraft models, terrain, sound, objects and smoke and fire patches. I could reproduce all the remaining issues, which I still observe on my sys, and which are mentioned on various other boards as well. (AMD 1,4, 512 mb Ram, Geforce 2/mx 400, WIN ME, Latest nvidia detonator driver set installed.)

Significant framerate drop, when sunglare is switched on.

Same, when I get wounded, which is indicated by sort of red haze(?) on the screen.

The grey block behind the guns in F2-view.(cockpit slew view).

The " transparancy issue". Those parts of the textures for wings, elevators and rudder, which are painted in RGB 0,0,0 black should not be visible. On some aircraft parts, where they overlap with the corresponding 3D shape, they are however displayed in a dark grey. But not consistently!

A cordial thank you for your achievements sofar. Having played RB up to now in Direct Draw only, it is really a new experience.

I'm pleased if that's a complete list. When I run the demo, and fly over the enemy, so that I get explosions around the aircraft, then I start to see bad terrain textures. Is that just with the demo?

BTW, the slowdown with sunglare may be impossible to fix. The way the Glide calls map onto OpenGL in this case is very inefficient. A fast CPU and fast memory helps here, rather than a fast graphics card.

Yep! Forgot the graphic corruption, when explosions, fire, smoke are involved. Had that on terrain, F1-cockpit view, and enemy aircraft, even to the extent that completely wrong bitmaps were displayed. E.G. tanks and buildings i.o. terrain. Followed von Helton's advise to set texture memory in the ini file to 6. No more probs after that.

I think we can live without sunglare, but I do hope the red sreen/wounded problem is not related to the sunglare issue. I'm not amused to quit a good fight, just because the aircraft becomes unflyable at 4 to 6 fps. 😉

My current workaround: Emergency landing in outside f5 view.

Everything else works almost perfect for me. FPS between 20 and 35-38 are sufficient imho, bearing in mind the 24 fps of every movie. DD players are however not too spoilt! 😉
