It doesn't need updates, already flawless in my book.

i386 16 ⇒ i486 DX4 100 ⇒ Pentium MMX 200 ⇒ Athlon Orion 700 | TB 1000 ⇒ AthlonXP 1700+ ⇒ Opteron 165 ⇒ Dual Opteron 856

Oh, that's almost the exact build I am planning, I have sourced 4 400 MHz Mendocinos, hoping that 2 of them might be good for 100 MHz, an then a couple of Golden Orbs modified with room for capacitors .. Probably no or only one Voodoo, though - it's just so expensive 🤣

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Made this i486 DX4/100. It was an interesting experience because I don't think I've ever build anything from this era by using mostly NOS parts. Biggest problem was the two VLB cards which obviously had a resource conflict when most of the time the machine refused to POST. I seem to have fixed it by replacing the S3 with a Cirrus Logic. I was tempted to create a 5x86 based PC, but I feel it's more at home in a PCI board. I did have an ASUS board that had it all (ISA/VLB/PCI), but as it happens it only has a single VLB and it would really piss me of if I had to use a standard ISA/PCI I/O card.

There's a glitch in the matrix.
A founding member of the 286 appreciation society.
Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

Probably not, got these from recycling and from an estate. Nothing much to see inside, just your basic bunch of cards and wires.

Hello to everyone.

I am new to this forum, but I am very happy to share the joy I had when building my retro rigs.

The specs:
Intel Pentium III Katmai 500 MHz Slot1
1x 256 MB PC133 + 2x128 MB PC133
ASUS P3B-F
Voodoo 4 4500 32 MB AGP
Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital (SB0220)
3COM 905-C Fast Ethernet NIC
56K Lucent ISA Modem
300W Generic "Bluecase" (a Brazilian brand) PSU
LG DVD-RW IDE Drive
Maxtor 80 GB HDD SATA with SATA to IDE Converter
1.44 MB Floppy Drive
ISA Controller Card for Genius Scanner
CoolerMaster Cavalier3 Case
OS: Windows 98 Second Edition (in Brazilian-Portuguese)

Now the only upgrade i am willing to do on this rig, is to get a better and safe PSU for it.

I also have built a 486DX, an AMD Sempron, an AMD Athlon 64 (S754), a Core2Duo and a Core2Quad too.

Later I can take pictures of those and post in this thread.
