I'm slowly building a system to play early to mid 90's games. Finally found a case with turbo switch and MHz display. Still need to get MT-32 and Gravis Ultrasound.

AMD 486 DX/2 66MHz, 8Mb RAM
Sound Blaster 16 CT1740
S3 Trio64
14" ICL shadowmask display with all analog controls for older games
19" Samsung 959NF for newer games

My case/cd-rom brother 😈 . But what's inside? Who will guess?

Just picked up a Jaton GF2 MX400 64mb PCI video card..... last owner says it has issues with i810/i815 chipsets and through experimentation, it only works with the v56.64 win98 driver(confirmed), it works and stable in DOS and 2D, but only in 16bit and not 32bit colors while gaming, and the clocks show for both GPU and MEM are the same @ 143 instead of 200/166 anyone ever heard of such a problem?

I figure i'd use this video card in a slot1 500mhz system of with the motherboard uses the 440BX chipset since its a wee bit more powerful than the VooDoo3 3000 16mb agp2x video card i have at the moment and see how that fairs.

I don't think so. K6 CPUs (I/II and especially II+ and III) are remarkably cool. A standard small socket 7 cooler is enough to cool a 500Mhz K6-III.

My Dad used to have one too! That’s I actually why I initially got one again, but then It turned out to be a really great mobile vintage machine for me!

I have 4 Pentium 4 laptops that have Radeon Mobile 7500 or 9000 prospectively:

1) IBM ThinkPad R40 (Pentium 4-M 2GHz, Radeon 7500 16MB)
2) 2x Dell Inspiron 600m (Celeron, Radeon 9000 32MB & Centrino, Radeon 9000 32MB)
3) Dell Latitude D600 (Centrino, Radeon 9000 32MB)

Cool! While we’re on the subject of Pentium 4 laptops, here’s one I dearly love. The Dell Inspiron 8200! This is the updated version of the 8100. Notice those cool silver palm rests!

The attachment 0007C22B-DAD9-4D9D-A645-6022D0230534.jpeg is no longer available

This particular one has a 1.8GHz Pentium 4 Mobile, and an ATi Radeon 9000 64MB graphics card! It’s my primary Windows XP machine, and man does it run XP well!

Mine also has what Dell called their “UltraSharp” display. It’s the same 1600 x 1200 resolution, but it’s brighter, has a wider viewing angle, and a higher contrast ratio than their standard UXGA display. I got lucky with this 8200, because it’s basically a top-end model. Someone definitely payed an arm and a leg for this thing when it was new!

I just love the Inspiron 8000 series laptops. They’re just fantastic in my opinion.

I have two almost identical machines. One is a 1.5GHz pentium 4 with a Geforce 2 GO video card, the other is a 2GHz model with a radeon 9000. Both have black palmrests tough, and the speakers are dead on both of them... Oh an I found a large 7.2v rechargeable battery inside both witch leaked. That killed one of the laptops (the GF2 model) but the other one didn't sustain much damage.

I strongly suggest you crack yours open and replace this battery:

Side panels and top are also yellowe and honestly I can live with this much yellow 😀 This will likely be my go-to retro PC for a long time.

I wanted to squeeze in a Voodoo 2 SLI but I could not bring myself to do away with any of the PCI cards in there..

There is no K6-III 500MHz, or at least not officially. I presume you meant to say K6-III+?
K6-III was actually kinda hot for a (super) socket 7 CPU and official ones were released up to 450MHz.
