1. Introduction

Hi All!

Thought i'd share one of my recent pickups. A Fujitsu Siemens Celsius 670 Workstation!

I've wanted one of these for a long long time, especially the DF400 motherboard since it supports 4GB of Rambus PC800!. This is going to be a fun project, such hardware back in 2003 cost a fortune!

Specs

Motherboard: IWill DF400-SN
Processors: Dual Xeon 2.4ghz 400FSB 512KB
Memory: 512MB (4x128MB) Samsung PC800 RIMMs
Graphics Card: Radeon 9250SE. Not the original, believe it originally had a Quadro or 3DLabs Card
Audio: Integrated
Hard Disks: Seagate Cheetah 36GB, 15K U160

2. Planned Upgrades!

My Goal is two get two SL79V Gallatin Xeons working in it. It's not officially supported as per Iwill. These chips have a massive 4MB L3 Cache, basically a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition on steroids.

Other upgrades is a better video card, and storage. My planned list of upgrades are below

Processors: Dual Gallatin XeonMP 3.00ghz 400FSB 4MB Cache SL79V
Memory: 4096MB (8x512MB) Eplodia PC800 RIMMs
Graphics Card: Powercolor HD4670 AGP 1GB, HD3850 AGP later on after benchmarking of the 4670
Audio: Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96
Hard Disks: 120GB Sandisk SSD, 500GB Seagate 7200.12
Storage Controller: Promise SATA300 TX4

Part 3 Coming!

5TH / Dual 233MMX / Kyro-1-PCI / Maxi-Studio ISIS
EP-MVP3G5 / K6-3+@600 / Geforce3-Ti500 / EWS64XL

Uh nice, currently surfing, searching for the good old DF-400SN, built back then quite many of those Systems.

And yeah, they work with Xeon MP's - have myself one single Xeon MP Engineering Sample, had always hoped i get 2 😀
Also, the P4 Extreme Edition was a XeonMP !! - they took the Gallatin Xeon and nuked it into another case/Socket ...and voilá - the P4 Extreme was born 😀 - Intel has habit of doing that. Remember the X299 Platform with max 10 Core CPU or so ?! - then AMD came with the first Threadripper and Intel suddenly had a 18 Core i9 ? ...was just a Xeon Gold or so rammed into into "new" Case

Sadly didnt kept one DF400 - there was a time, where you could get complete machines for like 50 bucks, but ofc noone took it "old lame computer" - now..have fun finding one, seeing some spareparts where some sellers dream of 1700 dollars...
But i keep my eyes open, maybe i find again some spare-parts leftovers 😀

Hope your Machine is alive and well 😀
