That's a fantastic setup and really helps clean up the work area.

This is awesome. I'm interested in how you fit the motherboards into the various [4U?] chassis. I'm aware of some rackmount chassis being compatible with ATX motherboards, and people then put consumer grade components inside. However, some of your systems are going to be older than (and not compatible with) ATX, right?

For starters the rack is an 18ru with 600mm depth. I had to remove the rear door .

It has a power rail for all four of the pc’s and as long as I don’t try and turn on all four at once it shouldn’t trip. Lol

The two lower racks are iStar usa d-400-6-nd, with the two upper racks being iStar usa d-416.

The entire thing probably weighs a few hundred kilograms (300+ lbs).

Thankfully each is still atx or e-atx form factor.

How did you handle peripherals like keyboard, mouse and Sound?

Keyboards and mice are all wireless using either ps/2 ports or usb 😀

Sound was a little more complicated.

Midi out from mpu-401 clones’s to either mt-32 or sc-55. Then back into soundcards for mixing.

Sound card stereo rca and optical outputs to ossc pro’s (eventually once available) and combined with vga to output hdmi (well that’s the hope)

Really excellent setup. Your system specs are excellent.

Very nice! Wanted a rack for years but never got around to do it... one day! Once you go rack you never go back.
