Are There some project to make DOSBox in java?
Would be 'slow as hell'
1+1=10
disk swappin to the max and beyond xd

Jpc is a PC emulator, written in Java, with a dynamic compiler for real mode, and an interpreter for Protected mode, CGA, EGA, VGA... And it can work as an applet.
They claim to run real mode at up to 20% of native speed.
Games such as Prince of persia run fine. In Prince2, performance varies, from fast to slow and back again...
No sound, but still very nice.

A quick search of this forum reveals this one as well. More primitive.

So it asked. seeing that JPC is capable of running games, would be cool an online DOSBox.
I am the webmaster of [don't post links to abandonware pages]
In my page there are more than 4000 games pc to download and approximately 90% have been tested and operating in DOSBox.
I have also written a Spanish manual of DOSBox, based on the Boxer frontend.
I think that the future is able to play online, so I think that java is the future.

BWUAHAHAHA!!!! "JAVA is the future"... When did i heard this the last time - 2000? The fact is that JAVA, despite being an interesting approach, could be considered a failure, if you look at what Sun was trying to achieve. And JAVA will most certainly never be the platform of choice for games or emulators. I never coded in JAVA, but i was part of a few projects where apps where coded in JAVA. The programmers were cursing all the time, about performance, and the "joys" of the multitude of JRE versions.
And, Mr. paco_jones, if there would be a JAVA version of DOSBox, i'd be interested to hear how you would manage the copyright issue. Not that you seem to care a lot about copyright, as your site is obviously some kind of "Abandonware" site (i can't read spanish, but some games seem to be downloadable).
I respect your opinion, but I think there is a reality.
Why are successful game flash pages? and today I read a news item that 22% of Internet users are subscribed to an online game.
Most young people do not know anything about MSDOS, are unable to make work the most simple game.
Perhaps java isen't the beast platform, but work online.
My site has abandonware games, but my intention is to collect, as shown by the history of videogames. If you still good, you've never seen this site in abandonware sites lists and has been operating for 11 years, I had to withdraw only 3 games at the request of their authors.
greetings
My site has abandonware games
