I'm using Duke Nukem 3D v1.4 - Atomic Edition and I can't, using the attached savegame, play for much more than a minute without DOSBox crashing. When this happens the status window fills up with lines like these:

7Illegal write to 10003e4, CS:IP       70:     e62
8Illegal write to 10003e5, CS:IP       70:     e62
9Illegal write to 10003e6, CS:IP       70:     e62
10Illegal write to 10003e7, CS:IP       70:     e62

It actually says that that so many times that the following can't be seen in the status window at all:

Scrolling to the top doesn't help - the Illegal error just continues up to 10002bd. It may go farther than that but the status window doesn't show that many lines even with the scroll bar.

Somone mentioned last week that Blood would crash at a certain point unless they increased the memory that DOSBox is assigned.

By default DOSBox uses 16mb so try bumping it to 32mb.

Atomic Edition is memory hungry, increase it to the maximum possible if you want a smooth gameplay. Also try patching it to 1.5 if you have a chance.

The fact that the same thing just now happened makes me think that you're right - that I just need to upgrade.

Increase the memory to 63mb, too.

Atomic Edition is a special case. I recall having all sorts of problems with it even when I had a real DOS machine.
