Can you delete your drive C in dosbox ? 😲
Can you delete your drive C in dosbox ? 😲
yep
thanks for the repley, but shouldn't DosBox have a failsafe so can't do so ?
If your version is new enough (as it should) it would warn you right upon attempting to mount C: (but not other drives even if the Windows were installed on anything but C:)
unfortunately, this is still widely disregarded

To clarify this a bit:
Physical drive = hd as your OS sees it (c:\ for instance)
Emulated drive = folder or drive mounted in DOSBox (c:\dosgames mounted as c:\ for instance)
You're probably asking if DOSBox will delete everything in c:\ when you mount your physical c:\ as emulated c:\. Yes, it will. If you're on Vista/7, your OS should prevent the DOSBox process from deleting really important stuff though, like your Windows or Programs dir - unless you're logged in as an admin user, or have disabled UAC. If you have mounted a subdirectory as c:\, DOSBox will only delete the files in that subdirectory.
That cleared it up thanks
So have you guy taught about modifying it so it is simpler and easy to use one version for novices and have pre built commands so you just click on the command you want. 😖
It's just that I have avoided dosbox and swished to ScummVM because of its simplicity but I have wanted to have a look at my dad old floppy discs but I don’t know what on them and what games they are and i have been reading up on what I need do with the commands to so ;D
That's a job for frontends. There's many. Try them. See what suits. You.

😁 I will have a look do you have a link our some think
The dosbox homepage has several links.
P.S
you still can delete the files on your program files in WIN 7 and vister in the lates vershon of dosbox ?

A hundred points for you. Finish the sentence about admin rights and disabled UAC and you got your complete answer.
😲 thanks
