Hi folks!

First of all, sorry for my bad english but I´m not a native speaker.

OK, I realy struggle with DOSBOX.
I run it through the REMOVED collections via launchbox.
Problem is that every game, as soon there is any movement on screen (sprites, polygons or what ever)
is causing the video and audio emulation in dosbox to stutter.
The framerate and sound output is horrendous then.
And it`s on "EVERY" game. Even when its a most basic one from 1983 or a 3d game from the mid 90s.
But ONLY in fullscreen.

I tried lots of things to fix it.
First off all I started reading the wiki on how to fix slow output.
Tried to play with the cycles but with no luck. Maybe I enetered the wrong values I don`t know.
But I think this is not needet because REMOVED collection comes with an individual script for every single game, so I think it has something to do with my hardware or drivers?
So I re-installed my audio and gfx drivers, no luck, still the same.
I use the REMOVED collection for years now but have installed the latest 3.11 releases on my peecee.

It`s running on:
WIN10
3,2 ghz dual core pentium
8GB RAM
And an NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800

I am a Commodore guy so with DOS stuff I´m not realy familiar with so please
keep that in mind when you try to explain something:-)
My last steps in DOS I took in school in 1991:_)

Please help!
THANK YOU!

Use latest version 0.74-2

open dosbox.conf

try to change output to opengl or openglnb

set a resolution not too high (i recommend to use 1280x960 for all 320x240 and 640x480 games and 1280x800 or no more than 1600x1000 for all 320x200 games [NOT 1600x1200])

that cpu is not too very good for emulation with dosbox...

for now set auto cycles

Cheers FulValBot I tried it this evening.
Changing the output didn`t change anything at all for me.
Also tried your suggestions on about the resolutions, but still the same.

But what I found out now is when I try to raise cycles with ctrl-F12 the speed increase is realy siginificant, it`s still not smooth but far more playable then before because before that it was a slideshow.
So I think my cpu is ok for dosbox usage but anyhow it gets not detected or used propertly.
So I think I have to change I have to get rid of auto detection and enter some values,
but Dosbox is not telling me the values when pressing ctrl-F12.

Real mode DOS games (which is most DOS games) DOSBox does not do autocycles for.
Protected mode DOS games (1995+) DOSBox does do autocycles for.

Closing thread since this is a PEBKAC, Abandonware and ExoDOS "issue"
