New to DosBox yesterday 9/28/2019, v0.74.3. All is well except I need a 50 line program window. Could do in Win98 and XP and Win7 XP mode with shortcut layout adjust. Solved 9/28/2019 with 8x12_50.com. Yay!

Welcome to the forum. 😀
To get 50 lines in DOSBox, enter the following command at the prompt:
mode con lines=50

You can use the MODE program from MS-DOS or FreeDOS to switch to 50 lines. There is also the little 8x12_50 program here that gives 50 lines and uses the 8x12 raster font from older versions of Windows to create a similar appearance to console windows.
D'oh, silly me. I was testing with my personal DOSBox installation which includes Win98 DOS programs in the path. So I was actually running MODE.COM.
Good to know it works in DOSBox. If you don't have access to the original MODE.COM, you can try one of the alternatives suggested here:
Displaying more lines of text in DOS window

8x12_50.com worked!! Thanks so much! Bless you.
When trying exec windows/system32/MODE command I receive "this program cannot be run in dos mode" . Any idea?
How can I load only MODE command from FreeDOS to run?
thanks very much
just to say 8x12_50 worked fine - thanks
