Hey folks,

Apologies if I'm asking a dumb question.

Basically, is it possible to disable Adlib for FM Synth, while allowing what is set up as Windows "MIDI Synth" to play FM (e.g. real FM hardware, or in my case, a softsynth driver)? Or does Windows MIDI setup only apply to MT/GM games?

You can't output OPL commands to MIDI out directly. There's no insturment data, etc. as adlib isn't midi. Ensoniq PCI cards have tried (with infamously disastrous results)

For real hardware, there was hal's old OPL port passthrough patch.

Ok, thanks. It's been so long since I had hardware, I had forgotten. I think in DOSBox Win 3.1 there's an Adlib option in Windows, for MIDI though? I guess that's the same thing, Adlib for MIDI games and not for OPL games.
