Hi

I thought I should spice the output of the intro command up a little.

But i could use some help in perfecting it:

to try it out :
start dosbox like :
dosbox -lang c:\dosbox.txt

if you saved the file to c:\dosbox.txt

in dosbox type intro to see the result.

please make comments and or upload an better version of the intro syntax.

Peter

Ps i was thinking of the line :

When the mount has succesfully completed

if the mount should be coloured as well.

I made some estestic changes allready (girlfriend)

There is one game broken if ansi support is turned on. Thinking of a way of doing it completely by the specs. And remembering that game which was broken.
Finster do you remember it ? it was a game which wrote text to the stdout which accedently got the same fore and backgroundcolor (in the install menu or so)

Will need to figure out if
setting a new video mode (text mode)
actually clears the memory to 00 00
or to 00 07
or if command.com does that on start up 😀

You need to add a reminder to the startup. Something like:

Read the README before using this. HEY! Were not kidding around here. Read the README or we will find a way to inflect a great deal of bodily harm upon you. I'm serious here. Blow off the README and post one of those goofy questions and you're in serious trouble.

Oh, and learn some rudimentary DOS commands while you're at it. If you ask what the "CD" command means you're going to enter a world of pain, and I'll be your travel agent.

You know, something warm and fuzzy like that.

Oh, how I would love to hear that 😀

how about in the [dos] section of the config, just adding a ansi=true/false to the thing?

All this talk of ANSI gives me a wicked idea...

Did you make that picture with the current cvs ?

the switch for ansi is possible, but i try to make it in a such way that it won't interfere with normal operation.

Yeah, that shot is from the current CVS. The doorgame doesn't actually work fully right. Although the universe generation works, the game freaks out on some turn actions. Probably the file access (TW2002 supported multinode BBS's, so it opened in a file mode which allowed simultaneous writes from several nodes) is what's doing it.

I also tried the 16-bit final version of the DOS version of TW2002, but something in the extender didn't like the architecture of the CVS (not surprising as 386 emulation isn't quite complete yet by the sound of things).
