I am having trouble getting syndicate to run

I have a newer laptop with the following
1.8gHz processor (centrino dual core i think)
4 gHz ram ddr3
vista ultimate 64-bit os
nVidia 8800 gts graphics (1 gb video mem i think)

I d\l dosbox 1.72 or .72 w\e, the newest I believe

Syndicate runs great to start go through the menus and lauching the mission, however once i begin to move an agent the control display (?) starts listing hundreds of illegal read errors...

I would love to play this game again, maybe im putting the files in a bad location. I made sure the path was all in folders with 8 characters max, under C:\games\syn the file to launch is main.xxx . can anyone suggest a fix? thank you!!
