HI, i have recently bought exhumed(powerslave) off of ebay, and i cant get it running. i have xp and a soundblaster live card. i saved all the discs contents(51mb) to a folder, and i downloaded a demo of powerslave(11.8mb) and copied/pasted the demo exe names PS to the contents folder of the actual game as the original exhumed EX.exe kept saying i had disc in wrong drive 😖 but since i used the demo's PS.exe, its fine. anyway, after tinkering with the menu.exe and autoconfigured the sound to soundblaster 100%, the game ran great, full sound and it was fune, but after literally 1-2 minutes, it keeps crashing back to desktop. now i heard it maybe the sound, so i disable the sound in menu.exe and run the game, and its fine? please please help me. i don't understand a lot, im a bit thick, so i would really appreciate it if you had a simple solution. thanks, jonathan dadswell 😀

Maybe you should try the Linux or FreeBSD or Beos version , they al work fine 😀

I am also trying to get Powerslave to work, everytime I get to the menu screen with Dosbox the game closes. What settings do I need to use for it to work? I already checked the Dosbox compatibilty list and they said it was fully supported. If it's supported why isn't it able to run on my computer then?

Joey, can you post details on how you have configured DOSBox? How do you mount drives, directories and CD's? Which settings do you use for DOSBox output?

Yes, I am using the latest version. I do not have to really configure Dosbox and I do know how to mount the drives. I am using a frontend named D-Fend v2 which makes it easier for me to run the Dos games without all the mounting and other procedures. I am a DosBox newbie so I'm not really good with the settings.

Joey, can you find the game profile (or whatever D-Fend calls it) with your settings for Powerslave? I don't use D-Fend, so I can not tell you where to look. See if you can open the profile with Notepad, and cut'n'paste the configuration here in the forum.

First, can you recommend a good frontend for me? I am also getting a No cd-rom drive found error when I am playing some games. How do you get your games to run?

I don't know how D-Fend works, but your goal is to get it to add a line like this to the autoexec section (assuming that D: is your real CD-drive):

1mount D "D:" -t cdrom -ioctl

The game I was talking about was actually a no-cd version and when I added that line to my powerslave.conf it crashed and did not even enter the game.
