The PCI Voodoo 3, 4 and 5 cards go for a large premium over their AGP brothers, if you only paid 50 quid for that card then you got a fucking steal, throw a fan on that V3 2K and OC it, the core should hit V3 3k speeds but the memory will be dependent on how fast the ICs are on that 2k but it should still OC a bit and more than enough to be noticable.

Its a nice card to have in PCI format, look after it.

I got lucky, it was advertised as an auction with a best offer, and was only listed as “3DFX vintage card”. Never expected to win it for the cheeky offer I threw in within 5 minutes of the auction listing going live, but here we are.

It lives alongside my £100 V5 5500 PCI (also a steal, but not quite as much so), and it’s AGP V3 2000 and 3000 bretheren.

Still need a V4 of some type to round out the set (already got V1s and V2s too).

Bought these components for 13 EUR from different sellers. Nothing tested.

Bought a 19" Mitsubishi Diamond 91F Monitor. The Anti-Glare was smeared but i sorted that, but otherwise the condition was great and the Geom was spot on.

Congrats dude! I used to have a Voodoo 2 SLI back in the day and I'm not hopeful that I will ever again be able to own a 3dfx card of any sort unless I suck it up and hurt myself on eBay.

I got today a NOS Mitsubishi Amity SP, a super-ultra-mega rare 486 DX4 @75Mhz tablet pc that was opened only to take pictures of it but there is no manual.

I tried to boot it up docked at its docking station (and not docked too) and it boots but it stops in the post screen and the screen blinks showing what you can see in the captures i uploaded.

I have seen other more modern models of Mitsubishi amity (amities?) and below the “detected xxx processor at xxxMhz it uses to show the available ram and other more info. I tried removing the installed ram and booting but i get black screen and unfortunately do not have other memory modules that fit so cannot check.

Although the hard disk doesn’t even start to spin i have tired it on a different pc and it works so it is not the hard disk (btw it is a pcmcia hard disk! i thought it was going to be a normal 2.5" ide one).

I also read somewhere that Mitsubishi computers of that era don’t even start if the cmos battery is dead, so it might not be? Anyway it is soldered on the motherboard. (No leaking condensers inside, everything is super clean) not sure if it is worth the effort to unsolder and so on.

Does anybody know what could be the fault? Could be that it is rebooting in an endless loop?
I get no beeps in the post neither, only 4 low volume short beeps when i try to start up with a pcmcia to sd card instead of the hard disk. The BIOS it seems is phoenix if it helps (i cannot even enter the bios, the system halts before being able to)
The keyboard flashed the 3 lights when pushing the power button on the computer so the bios is starting doing its things

The CMOS battery is almost certainly going to be dead. Also check for battery leakage on the board. If it has a Dallas clock chip, its battery will be dead too.

It definitely sounds like you need to check if it has a Dallas RTC module with a dead battery or even just a standard coin cell bios battery that's dead. I've had quite a large number of systems not want to post properly or even power on with dead/low bios batteries.

Had to pull the trigger on this one...for 5 bucks, old fashioned compaq logo with ps/2 connector, its not mechanical, it uses NBM dome with slider. It has a very satisfying snappy keyfeel. Imaculated state except for the yellowing which I will take care with some retro brightening.

That's a nice find if you get it and it works, even if it's a bizarre and not very useful card. But it sure is original.

That is an incredible deal on the keyboard. Once you hit it with some retrobright it'll look basically brand new.

I used a similar method, using a product called CIF. It is slightly abrasive which is what removed the coating. I noticed the static first after removing the coating and powering on the monitor. On the second power on though the static was no existant.

The Screen is a bit more reflective in lightly lit rooms. In a dimly lit room the monitor is awesome though!

It was indeed eBay, and yes, I fully intend to ruin his 100% feedback rating if he doesn't follow through with the sale.

That's kind of a dick move. I've made errors in my own listings. I've put something up for a good deal but checked free shipping by mistake, for example. Shipping the item free like that puts me at a loss.

I did ship one of these error listings once for a Christmas ornament that was only a few dollars, mentioned it to the seller and wished then a happy holiday, and didn't even get positive feedback.

I wouldn’t post about the deal until AFTER it’s in hand. Someone could tip off the seller or the seller could even be floating around here. Don’t jinx it!

I certainly don’t raise hell against a seller or ever threaten them with negative feedback. Give the seller the same break you would want if you made a mistake.

I bought a Giga-byte Banshee from a seller accidentally listed for $19.90 when it was supposed to be $319.90. The seller canceled the sale, and explained the situation. I replied to the seller with a chuckle and told him I knew it was too good to be true, but it was worth a shot. That same card just recently sold for $319.90.

I once had that happen to me as a buyer, it did cost the seller more to ship the item than what I paid. I offered to compensate for the missing money but he politely replied that it was "learning money" for him. A really nice guy.
