I have the same setup but it cost me more than $25.
Good deal.

Good deal.

It was initially offered for around 100 USD. A few days later the seller dropped the price to 25 USD to gain some interest.
It needed around 2 hours of cleaning. Especially the gross keyboard was a challenge but it is a really capable machine (well, within its limits). I still need to figure out whether I like the mouse behaviour of Mac OS X or not. While you can set the mouse speed very precisely to your liking it still feels very weird for some odd reason. I can't really put my finger on it (pun intended) but it feels different compared to a Windows PC.

Yeah, Take a photo of the Keyboard key layout and then take it apart. The keys pop off.
This way you can clean it real good. Soap and water and a wash cloth is all you need.
I need to get back to work on my Mac's I have been neglecting them.
They need better graphics cards.

That setup are beautiful... That I must say. That said. I did have a blue G4 some years ago (sawtooth) , and I had two complaints about it. One is that in blue colour that design are but ugly. And the second complaint is that these cases are taking up way too much space. Yet they are old computers and that is why I think they are cool. 😜

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

Just hook up a standard USB mouse (Logitech mice works very well, and depending on the model there might be special version of Mouseware for OS X for PPC). Apple's mouses are not ergonomic and not pleasant to use in my experience.

Was not disappointed, several VLB-VGAs and ISA-VGAs with an Et4000, all looking very good.

But as I saw this I starting crying...:

Wow, that's a new low in shitty packing. That's like smashing a rare vase so it can be shipped in a smaller box. What the F... was that seller thinking (did he think?)?

I'd neg that seller right away, even if the cards weren't shown in the picture.

Bet it was sold as SCRAP. Therefore not even remotely a reason to get money back. On top of that, those cards were not pictured.

Yeah, it sucks, but that's how it is sometimes.

cyclone3d is right. I didnt expect these cards and you can see they must already been broken on the photo.

Anyway, dont want to have my money back, all other intact cards and the spare RAM-chips from the EMS cards are worth much more than 20€. Was a great deal in overall...

But I contaced the seller and told him he destroyed cards worth about 200€...

One could argue that items sold as scrap (especially electronics) should remain intact for the client in order to gracefully depopulate boards and sell components, including the PCB. However, it was not pictured, you really don't have a way to prove it was in one piece when in the seller's possession and they purposely broke it.

that idiot should get punished either way for breaking the cards, no matter what the cards were pictured or not

We have to remember that scrappers are in a different business than we are.

They sell the materials that happen to be in the form of old electronics that some people (like me) in the world care for, but are pretty useless otherwise.

Recycling is a good thing.

I give Cyrix200+ right. It is a different bussiness, and they just happens to see old electronics as a source of raw materials for stuff like new flatscreen tv's and iPhones. On the other hand, it is a shame to destroy something if it is working. This hobby is a kind of recycling on it's own. Things get a second chance of life, and not just dismanteled for the metals and other stuff. It goes two ways. And we can not really complain about recycling can we?

What did the seller reply? What I would not give to be a fly on the wall. A bit like that youtube clip, were a boy figures out that it is not the best idea to hit a new iPhone with a big hammer.

Are those cards even more than dual layer (are any traces running in any layers besides the front and back of the cards)?

If not, then they should be repairable. Won't be pretty, but they should work.

That's a very nice set of cards, certainly worth more than the EUR 20 you paid. But yeah, vandalism is stupid and this guy will probably be more careful next time. He'll probably also ask for more than EUR 20 too though.

Btw, what digital connector is that on the Chips card? It almost looks like it would fit a 1600SW... could that be the elusive Siemens-Nixdorf S26361-D964-A11GS-7? If so I might DM you offering a kidney shortly 😉

Locally a CPU scrapper seems to have cottoned on to the fact people like us offer more cash for intact old crap than he would get for gold when recycling. He sells by the kg, but also says he's prepared to sell individual chips, and he has some interesting stuff (Via Nehemiah for starters), we'll see how that turns out.

I've got a similar card that I really have no use for other than some testing. It came out of an industrial system that was marked as a wave solder controller. I'll send you a pic once I locate it again since I am not sure where I stored it.
