I just purchased one of these from a guy who custom built it in New Zealand.

Very much looking forward to getting it!

Nice! Is there a way to disable the integrated VGA in order to use a CGA or monochrome card?

Edit: just found their website and a bigger picture, looks like the onboard VGA can be disabled

This is cool, but it also takes all the fun out of building an XT.

I agree. And for this price you can still score the real deal (and I mean like 5150 real kind of thing) if you really want to without too much trouble… Not to mention a dozen of clone XT and AT motherboards…

Yes I don’t have the space for anymore machines so this is perfect.

It gives me the best of both worlds basically.

Can completely see the preference for original hardware but in this case this suits me very well.

Man, I would buy one in a heartbeat. If someone made an AT (286) clone board that size, I would use an ATX case to place it in. I wonder if there's a custom I/O shield for ATX cases that'll make it fit on there for that board?

You can make one yourself with some tin and tin snips. I've had to do that for an ITX power supply that replaced my dead ATX in my P4 3.0HT a while back. If you fold it nicely, it looks pretty good too.

Yes 286+ is my preference too (it has the games I really like) but I've never used anything older than a 286 and this thing is amazing so I have to try it.

The guy is looking to make custom I/O shields for it.

Bought this mint vintage multimeter for $10 at an estate sale storefront. Never can resist these beauts. Offered this to a couple of people. Luckybob was the taker.

This just arrived. ~6500hrs, no S.M.A.R.T. errors or bad sectors. Now to find a case to make a custom mount for to display it.

Is it a WD Raptor? Why no label?

Damn, that thing is sweet! I had one like it a while ago, but threw it in when an oldschool HAM geek came over to buy some other stuff and got all excited about it. Metal body with genuine Bakelite front panel. I LOVE electronics gear from that era, LB should have fun with this one.

Haven't been thrifting much myself lately but I went the other day & scored some things. Maybe not so exciting: I grabbed these REALLY high quality VGA & DVI cables for a dollar each, and noticed they were Matrox-branded. Wondering what they came from. I looked around for a Triplehead2go or something like that but didn't find anything.

They're quite short so I'm assuming they're made for some high-bandwidth video-wall kit or something. Wish I'd found the rest of it. Still, it's nice to run my Samsung 214T in 1600x1200 VGA and not have to look at it in Smear-o-Vision.

I also scored this literal sack of 1960s~70s tape recorder mics for $10. Some of them sound awesome, especially the two Sonys, which are probably gonna become my go-tos for voiceover. I didn't need more mics, but being sensible about audio gear is boring. 😜

Gigabyte GA-7VTXE With obviously bulging caps. I will spend more on capacitors than I did on the motherboard.

I have been having a heck of a time with my Nforce2 board and it being compatible with anything except its integrated components, so I bought the SIS and VIA boards to see if I can get my Athlon PC up and running. These were sold as-is in a bin. Everything I have bought out of that bin has worked perfectly.

Someone mentioned about baby AT socket 370 motherboards. So, I went and found myself one for under $50. Yes, I see there are a few questionable caps, but I have no issue with replacing them myself. This one is an Acorp 6VIA/ZX85, with a Celeron 433MHz, and, I'm guessing 160MB RAM (Listing says "16MB," but you can clearly see in one of the photos that there is a 128MB module plugged in - so 128MB + 32MB?).

It is a Raptor X... These were not produced for long and had a clear cover installed from the factory.

Proud owner of a Shuttle HOT-555A 430VX motherboard and two wonderful retro laptops, namely a Compaq Armada 1700 [nonfunctional] and a HP Omnibook XE3-GC [fully working :p]

Congrats! Nice mobo!
Hopefully there is no PCB damage between the LPT socket and the cap right of it.

Btw I only see one photo, and can only recognize that one of the modules has even parity. These are quite hard to find for reasonable prices!

Also, the label is on the back side of the drive.

Not exactly hardware but a happy coincidence; after years of searching I found a SS7 board not long ago.. and only months later I ran across a manual for it in a thrift bookstore for just 50 cents.

Happy times.
