That's a sign of a defective board in my experience i.e. someone removed the ICs. Let's hope that battery isn't leaking too much.

Got this lot for $20 including shiping. I think I need to stop, I have more stuff than I will ever need at this point.

I know that feeling... my current approach to collecting is more like "one of everything" instead of focusing on special parts... but I think I'll change my approach once I have a sizable selection of parts... which is a point that seems to be approaching fast 😁

I've seen scrap sellers that just remove all the chips possible on all boards including roms... ram... cache... just everything and sell them seperately.

That's pretty brave, I was being much more cautious carrying only a crappy Trident ISA for the first time 😀

heh, yeah I'm glad it worked out, here's some of the loot 😀

Gravis Analog Pro Joystick
Logitech Cyberman
Logitech trackball (for laptops?)
external Panasonic 4x CD-ROM drive, I think it was sold with a pcmcia card that I don't have, but should work with other SCSI controllers too I assume?
Pentium II233 with a nice cooler
Athlon 600 Argon also nice cooler, going to swap the cooler onto my Pluto/Orion for my Slot A build
got the s939 board because it has AGP

K5 PR133.. Jealous. I want one of these to replace my Pentium 133. K5 PR133 and the U5S SX40 seem to be so elusive for me 🙁

Love that Alaris Leopard. Has to be one of the weirdest boards out there. I want one IBM SLC/DLC/Blue Lightning board. The later Blue Lightning undoubtedly offers the best performance, but I have an i7 for that - so I'd love to get my hands on a Leopard for undoubtably the best 16b I/O performance out there.

Well now... I was contacted by guy who liquidates his retro PC parts collection. It's extensive. We have gone through several banana crates, over 100 items and I photographed all of it (first batch of things..

Rest is still for sale (some are reserved - marked "R") - if anything is of interest to you - you may contact me for details. After 15.08 we plan to post everything that's left in batches on AmiBay.

..and not too much junk.

Lot arrived today. Doesnt look as bad as expected. Some boards look OK, some have obvious damages and for others somebody already tried a repair. Need to inspect very closely before testing. Still possible that nothing works. Cannot keep most of it anyway, was mainly interested in the 286s.

Got me a new AT case because those are starting to get more and more rare..

AT-Case-G.jpg

It was sold as an OEM computer in the early nineties by the same company I bought my first PC (Intel 486 DX33 4MB VLB) from, and it's the Mid-Tower doorless model of the case I had which was a Full-Tower with a front door.

I was going to build my 486 with a NOS AT case I had around, but this changes everything. Needless to say, a 486 system will have to be built in this and moved to storage.

I guess I will just do a PCI/VLB 486 DX4-100 build with a Voodoo 1 running Windows 95/Warp3 dual boot in the NOS case and use it as a daily driver because why not..

I also got another AWE64 for just $5.

After buying a 512MB PC133 CL3 Crucial/Micron stick yesterday (with the hope that runs at CAS2 Turbo mode, just like my Viking CL3 stick) in order to upgrade the memory to 2GB on my future TUV4X, I also bit the bullet on this:

s-l1600.jpg

I never had a direct experience with bridged nVidia cards, but as the Radeon X1950 Pro, while being excellent in 3D mode, falls a bit behind my old 6800GT in 2D mode (especially in graphics acceleration in web browsing), I want to give the 7800GS a spin. They say it's one of the fastest AGP cards made by NVidia, plus it was the most "affordable" one that I found, so why not. I promised myself I'm not going to buy anymore stuff in the mid to long term, as I need to save money for other, non retrocomputing related needs. I hope it won't end like the HD3850.

My Retro Daily Driver: Pentium !!!-S 1.7GHz | 3GB PC166 ECC SDRAM | Geforce 6800 Ultra 256MB | 128GB Lite-On SSD + 500GB WD Blue SSD | ESS Allegro PCI | Windows XP Professional SP3

This is even better than what I posted yesterday (will report when it arrives..). I also won an auction of 10 kg scrap. There were mainly some interesting Soundblasters in the pile, nothing special. The seller wrote that he has 50 kg in total and if I am interested in buying more. I answered it depends and asked for a photo.
I selected 3 cards from the photo...do you see the most important? 😉

Pretty hard to miss a Voodoo 5K

OK, the 10 kg + the Voodoo arrived today. You will cry, dont scroll down if you dont like to... 😢 😢 😢

For the 10kg, I didnt see most of the cards that were inside on the sellers photo and was rather surprised about the big box. Think Imi also bid on this? 😉

So this is the box after my 1st sorting run.

And then this: Think I dont need to comment. The left cooler was removed with a screwdriver, the 3dfx-IC is damaged. Nothing to restore here. Will look through the box if I find the missing part of the Adlib... 😵
